To put things into perspective, many riders will do 3 or 6 flying 200 type efforts as part of their daily WARMUP! Here's a typical warmup:
- 20-30 lap paceline (depending on track length)
- Fully Seated flying 100M with a 3 lap windup at the top of the boards.
- Standing (meaning jump out of the saddle) flying 100M with a 3 lap windup at the top of the boards.
- Flying 100M or Flying 200M with a 3 lap windup at the top of the boards.
- (some repeat the seated, standing, flying efforts again)
- Then proceed with the race day events.

yeah, i'm back in for next season :d
i'm changing a lot about my program (diet, training, etc...). I did pretty much the same thing for 5 seasons (in terms of volume and intensity) and had moderate gains. I'm now addressing rule #1 of masters track racing: Don't be fat.
I'm also changing how and when i train. Training like the pros just isn't feasible. I did it, and i realized that i sacrificed a lot to do so. Plus i really think that i was over-training, either mildly or majorly at times. So, now i'm back to creating a solid work/training/life balance.

We had the first session of our masters state champs last night including sprint qualifier... My training has been going well, but conditions were average with gusty winds. I was getting blown around in warm up on my 5 spoke front, so I changed to my 404 front.
Ended up doing 11.20... Exactly my target for this flying 200 challenge and a new state record for masters 2!
Happy days!

Thanks guys!
i broke the state record (masters 2) for the kilo too... 1:09.18.
I wasn't that happy with my time, I was aiming for 1:07, but it was pretty windy and I had to go around the other rider (they were starting one rider each side of the track). My start wasn't great though.
New goal 200 time is 11.02"... See if I can hit that on the boards at Nationals in 3 weeks.

Cheers guys!
Masters 2 is 35-39 (I'm first year of masters 2).
Dalai... Yeah, can't wait to get down to Melbourne and not have to deal with the wind we have had up here for the last couple of months!

First flying 200 since last summer. Managed a PR 12.34, but not yet at the calculated goal above (12.21). Some practice will certainly help... think I can get more aggressive on the approach. Just for reference: 96".

Nice Work VanceMac!
as far as I'm concerned- if it's your first 200 in a while at VSC- you could probably hit your goal on a second attempt if you were fully recovered. That track is so technique dependent, especially the wind-up, it's hard to get it right when you aren't current...
excellent job!!

Woohoo!! got my goal 200m time in today's racing! almost can't believe it. 14.08!! and the track was cold at the time too (~21 C).
a PB in my 500m TT by 1.47s! (from a year ago - dont often do standing start timed tt's at local racing) SOOO stoked!

Thanksthanks!
the actual match sprint was today. due to the small size of the cat. i ride in, i was riding against a competitor with 1.06 of a second on me on 200m time. (and many years more race experience)
There was never going to be a snowballs hope in hell that i'd take the win, but damn i intended to make it as hard as i possibly could for my adversary . And i got the jump - regardless of being caught and passed within 50m. ha! now to get a monster kick to return the favor... its good to dream .

This weekend is the year's first sprint tournament. I'm excited and anxious to see where I'm at. Actually... more anxious than anything. Dat anxiety.
