Interesting Occurrence...
Was walking across the street, in the crosswalk, as a normal pedestrian (IE, NOT on a bike ride...), to a local pub. Literally stopped in the middle of the crosswalk to make sure I had my helmet on....
That's all. I probably need to spend a bit of time off my bike

As a pedestrian just walking along, if I hear a noise behind me, I'll glance up and to the left to check the mirror on my helmet. Chuckle to myself and keep on walking. Muscle memory is an almost impossible habit to break.

Whereas I look up and right on the bike to check my rearview. Doesn't work too well.

You might want to get a CT scan of your brain--without the helmet on.

Also, there was a long, long stretch where i would look in the back seat of my car, see that the car seat was empty, and freak out thinking i'd left my daughter alone at a store/street/parking lot. And then realize she was at home with my wife.

Sometimes in the grocery I will see a hot babe, so I'll turn my back toward her and look up/left to check her out, then remember I'm not wearing my helmet.

Once I thought I should dress myself up in spandex overalls/bibs just to ride a bike.
A second later I realized how ridiculous that would be and luckily the thought has never returned.

Well..... My first thought was had you already stopped at a pub before you headed to the pub you were going to.

When I'm hiking, or just walking down the street, I'm forever glancing up at my non-existent mirror.

Mirror thing for me too. Complementary, sometimes when I first get on the bike I have an uncomfortable feeling of not having a seatbelt on. Then I get over it.
