Bikes: Had a Surly Cross Check - was totaled in recent accident. Sadly now just a Fuji Crosstown as a backup bike.

People don't ask me how I lost weight anymore
Seems word has got round that I just go on and on about cycling 50-80 miles a week and radically changing diet and eliminating processed carbs and sweet tea/sodas while also limiting portions. People's eyes glaze over and they usually say, but did you use some diet?
Find it funny. I'm just up front and tell people your weight is your choice (absent a documented medical problem to the contrary) and for a number of years I made a horrible choice.

Wow 340 to 199 congrats. People think they will find some magical diet or pill that will turn them into what ever they want their body too look like. Most are not willing to take the initiative to do it. I blame some of it on media teaching sheeple about all these 174883829:9 brand new amazing diets and pills which are just vitamins with something weird in it.

That's awesome! Way to go!
I've noticed the same thing and it's really awkward sometimes. (I've gone from 350lbs to 145lbs...there *was* a medical condition that exacerbated the issue but I still made poor food choices, which have greatly improved)
The oddest thing to me is the expectation that now that I'm no longer losing weight I need to lighten up and go back to eating the way I did before, at least on occasion. People don't grasp that it really doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Congrats. That make a huge diference in life style.
I had similar loss, but learned to stay the course the rest of my life. It is so easy to revert, or maks too many small changes that will gain weight back quickly.
Sure glad I enjoy biking and the focus it gives me to keep a check on my habits.
Good luck in you new future.

It's true that people are always looking for some sort of gimmick when really, weight loss comes down to an incredibly simple formula:
calories consumed - calories burned = weight loss
And, more or less, every 3500 calorie deficit = about a pound of body fat lost. There are obviously things like metabolism and appetite that can come in and complicate things, but when it comes down to it, the formula above is really all there is to it. At least in my experience.

Aboot 110 lb lost so far, and still counting-- some of the weight has been lost and gained and lost again a half dozen times now, like a slacker kid who just can't quite leave.
Still, it was a big day for me when I could see my feet and my peepee at the same time without bending over.
