Fiction about bicycling
Anyone read any good books that have bicycling as part of it? While there are numerous non-fiction travelogues about bike backpacking, I'm wondering about attempts at fantasy or some sort of fiction incorporating bicycling.

A simple Google search would have gotten you started. How much effort did you put into answering your own question?

Do a search here on the forum for LarrySellerz, I think he’s right up there with Carl Hiaasen for entertaining fiction.

Also see many of the posts in threads about disc brakes, tubeless tires, electronic shifting, and assploding carbon fiber. Plenty of fiction in those threads.

Adlai,
Sorry for the jokes. Not a book, but have you seen the 1979 film Breaking Away? Excellent movie about growing up, with cycling as the central metaphor.

Tell your Personal Bicycle Journey - Fact/Fiction/Fantasy
I know it comes in bit and pieces and goes randomly everywhere.
if not = there should be. Just not in A+S

The Wheels of Chance is an early comic novel by H. G. Wells about an August 1895 cycling holiday, somewhat in the style of Three Men in a Boat.
Editing to report that I read through the first three (short) chapters this morning (available for free at Goodreads). Favorite line, the conclusion of a passage on the bruises and contusions attendant on the outrages visited upon the cycling novitiate:
"So out of innocence we ripen."
Also: let me Google that for you.

Most of the threads in the General Cycling section of Bike Forums? Sorry, couldn't resist. I will follow this thread closely since I too would be interested in fiction books centered on cycling.

I haven't read it but it's about cyclist called Bradley, written 20 years before Brad Wiggins won the TDF.

Has anyone seen the movie The Bicycle Thief? A 1948 vintage movie
Keep seeing that on lists saying it is one of the best movies about bicycles ever made. But I can find a free streaming service and I'm too cheap to buy a copy.
I don't know many fiction books but sure have read quite a number of true biographies.
