I want a Cervelo
I've had my eye on a Cervelo all year long. Now that the season is changing in Chicago, I see other brands of bikes being marked down and put on clearance but not Cervelo.
Do they ever go on sale?

They are always on sale - that is, if you know how to bargain with the LBS to sell below MSRP.
I just got mine today - 2010 S1 Ultegra - End of an era.

That's what I want... the S1. They said $2200 firm, cause they're not making them anymore... plus 10% sales tax and a fitting for $250... I said no thanks. I want the bike but not at that number. I'd like to be out the door for less than 2 G's.

That's too bad. Santa brought me an '08 Soloist Team frameset (same as S1, just different name) from Excel Sports last Xmas. He got a screaming deal because it had a paint blemish.
Here it is, dressed in Red and wearing race shoes.

Find a bike that makes you say, "This bike was made for me." It could be a Cervelo

It doesn't have to be. There are all kinds of awesome bikes out there. Cervelo makes some real beauties. But shop and test-ride to get something that makes you want to ride a lot.

op what shop did you go to? I'm in chicago too.
I don't see how a fitting should be free with a bike. If your idea of a fitting is standing over a top tube or putting a bike on a trainer with a plumb bob. Then sure.
When I was fitted it was a 2 hour affair: all my body parts measured, flexibility and range of motion tested, and my bike put in a computrainer to analyze my pedal stroke and where I was putting the power down and what I needed to do to improve my stroke and other micro adjustments to ensure I was getting maximum power to the pedals from my position.
I would think considering the cost of bike / overhead / staff, you'd also like the lbs to make some $ so they can continue to keep their doors open....

My daughter just got her PhD, and as a combined graduation present and upcoming b-day present, we got her a new tri bike, a 2010 Cervelo P2.
She got a 10% discount off of the $2800 list, by virtue of her tri-club's going-discount at the store. But then a few weeks go by and now they have lowered their 2010 P2 price to be even lower by an extra hundred bucks or so, to make way for the 2011. Actually, they seem to be advertising the 2011 (via ordering) at the same lowered price - perhaps it has been "de-contented" a bit?
The only consolation is that the 2010 P2 has a slightly nicer color scheme (in my opinion), being mostly red and white, whereas the 2011 is more black and red. In any case, she's thrilled with the bike!

I could have sworn Competitive Cyclist has all their 2010 Cervelos on sale when I last looked a few days ago, but apparently they don't anymore. I'm either going crazy or they are just trying to play nice with Cervelo after they got dropped.
