1.5 month old tires already have a hole--should I ask for a replacement?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

1.5 month old tires already have a hole--should I ask for a replacement?

One of my tires gave up, a few months ago, and exploded. I was supposed to meet a friend for a ride so had the LBS put on whatever they suggested. Well it's been 1.5 months and I noticed a small hole in one of the tires. It's right along the seam which makes me think it may be a defect. (Or maybe I rode over something...)

Anyway, should I bother asking the LBS for a replacement? My last set of tires lasted 2.5 years.

If you think it's a defect, see what they'll do. If it's caused by a road hazard, then tough.

Pro Race 3s are easily the worst wearing tire i've ever ridden. I'll never ride them again unless they are given to me.

Calculating tire usage in terms of months is not at all accurate. In the midst of summer, for me, 1.5 months of tire usage might add up to 1500 to 2000 km, and I might go through a set of tires in that time. In the midst of winter, however, 1.5 months of tire usage might only be 150 to 200 km and I would hope my tires would last longer than that.
