From years of flipping I have no end of spares.
The bike was stored indoors and the grime on the frame was mysteriously water-soluable.
Most of it came off with a garden hose and soft brush.
The rims cleaned up with fine steel wool & water.
All it really needed was a good cleaning and, of course, new brake & derailleur cables, cable housings, seat, bar tape, brake pads, grease & oil, and tires.
It delights me no end when I can see the potential in a really low-end low-mileage steel bike like this AllPro and my wife says something like, "Like hell!" and "Why didn't you just leave it there ?".
But my FAVOURITE "Before and After" is this useless old Benotto, well worth the $20 Canadian it cost me.

Bought it a few days ago...

Running through pics from a couple of years back, so thought i'd throw this up.
This one was just a spruce-up with a couple of swaps.
Different wheelset (back to tubulars); seatpost instead of seatpin and clamp (edit = ooops old seatpin in After pic, too); Rustines repop hoods for Universal levers; NR Pat73 over Record rd; traditional leather saddle, vintage vinyl bar tape. And of course cables/housings/brake pads.
As purchased from original owner following initial wipe down.
re:edit Here with an Italian Selcof post. The Giro 'd Italia model wasn't supposed to have all Campy, that was saved for the 'Pro' model with same Columbus SP frameset.

1988 Raleigh Technium Pro. Bought for $60
shimano 105, cleaned it up, new seat, new bar tape. Took the rigid score wheelset for another project. Put a set of wheels/tires I had on hand. Greased and tuned. Back on the web for $150
it doesn’t sell, likely to part out completely and use the shimnao 105 on a more favored project.

Wildwood, how do you like the Zeus parts?
My Macario framest came with a Zeus 2000 headset and I assume other Zeus parts when new. I was going to go Zeus too but after buying brakes, seat post, and high flange hubs (now on wife's Ciocc), I decided to do the rest from my parts bins. I live in a hilly area and have become a fan of go-anywhere tall gearing.

Head tube with heron logo, Nervex lugs, and Simplex Gold friction shifters. Carlton and Raleigh really could have done more with the stock paint to highlight the gorgeous lugs. Even just a pit of gold or white lining - even black would have made a big difference.

Allpro 3-speed that I'm gifting to my mother this week-end
Before (crap, I really should have taken some full shots before restoring it - it was used by previous owner as a lawn ornament LOL):
And now, only needed new tires and a bunch of cleaning and adjusting!
This will be getting white wall tires shortly so these ones can go on another restoration
