Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Didn't want to get too close because they are ascared you have CV-19? And then yelled at you because they think you have it and you shouldn't be out?

Or just considerate but dumb?

Yep. Projected to be out of available ventilators next week, and they're fitting the Morial Convention Center into a makeshift hospital. 28 of the 150-odd paramedics are out, positive for CV-19. Field hospitals are going up in several state parks in neighboring parishes.

Totally don't need them, but really kinda want them. New floating Center Lock rotors from Hope, more classically snazzy looking than the Shimano -

They also come in 5 other colors, if you're in to that sort of thing.

Yikes.

At the time was anyone publicly warning that Mardi Gras should be canceled?

Lol, no. You would have heard the riots in Tennessee. They did "officially" cancel the St. Patrick's Day parade...thousands of people still turned out in the streets to celebrate.

So yeah, **** getting real.

And then, at the uh, national level, there are hopes/expectations/orders? to go back to business as usual in two weeks. Smart.

Saw a clip of the mayor being asked about it.

As always, one can only judge past decisions based on the information the subject had at the time.

Luckily (selfishly) I don't live in the city itself, just in the surrounding area so I'm not at as high of a risk. It's a mess, though, for sure.
