Thanks,
I'm in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Mount McKay is a ski hill that has been closed for over 20 years. The hill is on a indian reserve. It's a anything goes kind of place with no legal waivers required.
Hike, bike, motorbike you name it. I've run into hunters twice last month. The reserve council lets the local mountain bike club cut trail and hold downhill races there.
Very cool to have a place like that on the edge of the city. It was a 35 minute bike ride from my place to the parking lot. Have to add another 10mins of climbing to get to the first plateau....lol. No chair lift anymore. It does go up higher but it becomes jagged cliffs and really rocky. You can hike it but not really bike it.

A trail free of gov't intervention? The people must be very decent where you live for such a thing to exist.

I'm currently editing a video of me riding the same piece of trail in the winter snow. Unfortunately I made 2 runs and neither run was perfectly clean. Considering it's a 20 minute uphill trudge in the snow pushing my bike back up the start point. 2 attempts at a clean run were enough for me.
Here is a teaser clip...
