The Unofficial C&V Beauty Contest
As we all know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and there is no conclusive process with which to conclusively prove that something should be deemed 'beautiful' or not. So, your challenge - if you choose to accept it - is to share the bicycle(s) in your collection that you would deem the most beautiful. It could be the one that garners the most compliments or discussion while on rides, or it could be the one that you have a soft-spot for, despite a bonkers paint job.
Frankly, I see this as an excuse to get another thread of beautiful bicycles going - in my opinion, there are never enough of those. No need for competition, just beauty for beauty's sake. I shall begin with an entry from my humble collection - what I believe to be an early '80's Bottecchia. It stands as my personal favourite, and it seems to always garner some sort of reaction from C&Vers whenever it is out and about.

Capo. Original build after CyclArt paint job. I have since shortened the brake cables and replaced the Campag. 50-42-39 triple crankset w/ a Nervar Star 47-38, after the left Campag. crank developed a crack along the spindle shoulder. I have owned that Brooks Pro saddle since 1973 and have since probably put 50K miles on it. Brake handles, brake calipers, and shift levers are original -- everything else has been updated.

This is the bike I've owned the longest, not only in my current collection, but she has the Lifetime Achievement award, too. Probably has the most miles under her wheels as well.

Me likey, but my wants/needs aren't quite as lofty/exclusive. I'm happy with classic Japanese lugged steel! Mine have been well used and abused, and I wouldn't trade them for all the Campy bits in the world because we have miles and miles (and smiles) of history together!

RB, that's a lovely and subtle bike. I would have figured your Frejus pretty high up there too, hard to beat, in fact.
If setting counts, here's mine. Come to think of it, this bike holds up pretty well in any setting as long as you like RED.

it's a nice photo of a beautiful moto. i know you can do better with a more interesting background and lighting though. and i know it's tough to find the time when you'd rather be wrenching or riding without a big camera on your back. someone here, maybe you, instructed me to take pics of the drive side with the chain on the big ring in the shade on a sunny day with a beautiful wall or fence that was mostly a solid area to not detract from the lines of the bike. it was good advice.
calm down, hippie. god loves mollusks too.
