Today I met the pavement. With my face. After I crashed. After I slipped on the wet crosswalk paint in the rain making a right turn.
Fresh Garbage
Took my younger brother out climbing for the first time on a near by canyon. 2000ft elevation, some dirt paths, and crazy fun descending. He managed to do it fairly well but now he's dying.

Today i'm hopefully ordering the last bits for my 650b conversion on one of my Centurions -- should be a fun little bike to bum around on. I have to decide if I want to keep the DT shifters or go with bar-end -- I have both in my possession. Thinking about going tubeless but I dont know **** about that stuff -- just get tubeless tires and a stans kit and thats it?

I'm OK. Helmet, sunglasses and the pavement all left marks on my face. Not sure if this will turn into a black eye or not. Wrist is really sore. Shoulder lost a layer of skin. Knees lost skin. Bike is surprisingly OK minus the bar tape on the drive side.
I know that those crosswalks are slippery when wet, thought I had slowed down enough, but I didn't.

Sram's blackbox GXP BB is crap.
I followed their maintenance instructions to point (ceramic lube every 100 hours) and it crapped out under 500 miles. Heard a plink in a climb and it was concrete mixer pedaling immediately afterwards.

That's basically it, but I'd strongly recommend having an air compressor on hand the first time you seat the beat on new tubeless tires. Sometimes you can get lucky with a normal floor pump but it's a total *****. So much easier with a compressor.

Today I worked for 6 hours at my LBS. With help, I laced up but did not tension my first ever set of wheels. Wooden rims, yeah, wood, single speed. Mostly helping out around the shop, tube installs, U lock mounts, and I might have built up a dirt jumper and steel SS so far (last couple of days). They were obviously checked by the head mechanic/manager but I did pretty dang good for not being a mechanic. Pretty proud of myself for taking the chance on it and doing my best. Been dang fun. Now I am gonna work on my own bike. New bars/tape for my cx turned road bike.

BBs were perfected a few decades ago. I dunno why they have to mess around with 'em so much.

All this PF/BB30/BB-whatever crap pisses me off a little bit. Granted, by the end of the year both of my road bikes will be replaced with these finicky BB typed.
Sign of the times. Le sigh.

Today we managed to ride, but the rain came. I hit 47 miles by the time I pulled into my apartment complex. Had to adjust the bars once but other than that they are pretty good. Wrist still hurts from that crash so I am gonna leave the bike as is until that feels better before I make any more changes. Now I am vegetating.

Geeze. At least you're mostly in good shape. I had a similar incident earlier in the year, just replace wet crosswalk with railroad tracks. Broke my middle finger and sprained two others. My palm turned black and blue while my fingers swelled up substantially.

Nope. Masters 70-74 500m TT. But I did post a better time than a couple of the 65-69 guys.
