Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Old Skool Track now dead?

Forgive me, it's been a while since I've been here much. Just went to visit Old Skool Track for the first time in a while and it seems to be...dead? Anyone in contact with the guys who built it? Even if it isn't updated, really don't want to see that site disappear. It's a big part of what got me riding fixed 15 years ago.

Oh no! I used to love that site, too.

If anyone isn't familiar, here's a recent capture on the Wayback Machine: Old Skool Track NYC

The domain name registration for OLDSKOOLTRACK.COM expired Nov 27, 2017 so whomever was running the site has abandoned.

Godaddy is auctioning the name if you want to buy it.

Wow, that used to be one of the birther sites of the fixed resurgence back in the early 2000's. I still have my Old Skool Track.com T-shirt from 2004! They posted some pretty good stuff(s). Interesting how fixed has fallen off. It used to be crazy here with Alley Cats running almost every weekend and our Track* was flooded with new riders. Now fixed is more of an afterthought. The FGG Forum shut down a coupla years ago as well. A bit sad, no?

Yeah man, very sad. I really, really miss those days.

I think the domain is going to sell way out of my budget, otherwise I'd be tempted to do a guerrilla resurrection of the site.

Wow, I was just thinking of that video yesterday. I figured it would be hard to track down some random old video I'd last seen almost ten years ago, but BF delivers!

FWIW, it looks like Lucas is still around and making cycling videos: www.lucasbrunelle.com/galleries/

Yeah he's definitely still around doing his thing. I met him twice, once in Kyoto for the ill-fated last attempt at Kyoto Loco and then again in Chicago in 2012 for the CMWC. Fast guy and super nice.

I don't know if he actually lives in the area or just happened to be in town when it arrived, and I don't feel like searching them up right now - but there are vids floating around out there of Brunelle chasing another guy around Miami while Hurricane Irma was hitting us...

Thread resurrection! Just happened to check today and the site is back up! I had nothing to do with it whatsoever, just happy to see that it’s back.

If you don’t know it, please check it out: Old Skool Track

I can’t speak for anyone else, but that site was a big reason why I got into fixed way back when.
