It warmed up a bit today for my last ride of the month. Lots of melting snow and ice, but I still had to hike-a-bike for a 1/4 mile right after taking this pic:

First ride today since the crash and pelvic fracture on 12/20/20. Just used the drop bar conversion 1993 Trek 950 mtb and rode the stretch of street (including a small hill) in front of our house 5 times - probably 2 miles, maybe a little more, in total. Once situated on the saddle I was fine (the "sit bone" fracture hasn't been bugging me until sitting on the saddle) and the leg is definitely weak. But, it was a huge change in progress. PT starts Wednesday and hope to see improvement on the fractures in the hip socket. Those have been the most problematic but are slowly resolving.

Temperature was a little disappointing, but the sun was out, so mrs non-fixie and I decided to put on some mittens and go for a leisurely Sunday twenty-miler.

Finally! A quick 30 while the day was dry. Left the phone and camera behind and just enjoyed a slow-speed wamble along the SRT. It's been at least 2 weeks and I'd been jonesing for a ride because all I've been doing the past couple weeks has been bike preparation (winter maintenance and prepping a couple tubular wheelsets for use). Now, I like to tinker with the bikes - but I like to ride them even more
Took the Medici on its first ride since swapping out the entire bar/stem and putting everything back together. Perfect, as always!

Another quick 30 since today was 56 degrees, dry and sunny. Got some pics this time, too.

That sticker has been there for over 2 years now. Here's a close-up which shows even the bib number manufacturer's phone number is still legible:

I've always been slow on this bike. Well, slower than normal anyways and could never really figure out why.
I decided to run it "naked" without the big front bag and holy moly what a difference! Tonight I was about 1.5mph faster than I usually am on this bike and this route. Wild.
Also, the red wing blackbirds have begun showing up

Glad to post here as always.
So after missing some decent riding days due to Life. I finally got out today for 1st decent ride. Over to Issaquah - with stops coming and going. Almost 25 miles.
AD Vent Noir. Mixed components.
Come along.
Riding a comfort bike today.
531 DB, 27mm VeloFlex tubulars.
Twisty downhill from near the doorstep^^, to the brake check on the steep straight drop \/ \/.
Muddied corral on left, barn/house, flooded fields. Been wet a lot lately.
Past Tiger Mt. Paragliding’s landing zone. Active.
around the town
Candy shop Open.
XXX Root Beer. - Old fashioned 50s diner
Darigold dairy on Main Street - receiving milk. Must be creamy&chocolately.
Then a final good thought before climbing the hill home

Rode the Medici down to Fremont and Wright Bros. Cycles to pick up Velox tape to do the bars on the Alpina. On the return trip I took a detour through the Union Bay Natural Area:
Once home I wrapped the bars and reinstalled the brakes. After a quick tweak of the brakes I was off for Redmond and a fast 20 mile test ride of the Alpina - newly-taped tubulars and all:

Some nice nice riding weather yesterday for the first time in a month or so. Got to ride over to Thompson park and do a good part of the hack trail.

First ride in the Basso Gap for 7 miles getting home. Short top tube has the same feel as my Tommasini but this one is lighter and has a bit more zip.

This is the green time of year here in coastal Marin. The cows are fat and happy on all the new grass. I'm pretty happy myself, enjoying the great ride of the Bruce Gordon.
