I can do that after work, yes. Funny that in Schwalbes home site they show this; 42-622 (28 x 1.60, 700x40c) and does same on 700x35c) but not on other sizes.

That info from schwalbe is rather meaningless. It doesn't tell me what the real size is going to be on my rims. Do their tires tend to run undersized, oversized, true to size? What rims do they use to measure their tires? I'd rather take it from a fellow forumer who happens to have 19mm internal width rims and takes a real life measurement.

Good point, haven't thought of that in that way. Gotta remember that

Anyways, measured widht to be 43-44 mm? https://imgur.com/a/AYBKXB9

Excellent info, thanks. So it looks like they tend to run undersized. Definitely nowhere near the informed 47mm. Looks like a good candidate for my front tire. Now if someone had similar info on the 44-622 for the rear tire.. I'm fairly certain the 42-622 would fit.

Schwalbe are actually using three different tire sizing systems, there.

42-622, 700x40, and 28x1.60 all describe the same physical size. "42-622" is the ISO size designation, and the other two are the "old standards", sometimes called "German" or "French" sizing, depending on the specific situation.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_5775

They don't list 42-622 specifically on that website, but you can see that 40-622 and 700x38 are the same size. 37-622 and 700x35 are the same size. But that's about the point where the sizing becomes the same. 35-622 and 700x35 are the same. 32mm is the same. 28mm is the same. I think there may be a point below 28mm where the sizing systems diverge again, but I don't recall exactly.

For some reason, this doesn't appear to be universal. The Continental Speed Rides on my 750 are labeled both 42-622 and 700x42. And the Giant Crosscut tires on my Roam are labeled 38-622, 700x38, and 28x1-5/8x1-1/2. That last one is given as the "old" size of 40-622 (and yet these are labeled 38-622). Weird.

I think I am used to the non reflective tires now, and prefer them.

Finally got to give the Ogre a real good going over, tore it all down, hosed down the frame, cleaned and lubed the wheel(s), and cleaned the brakes, chain and gears. It all ready for a epic Beer & Taco ride tomorrow (Saturday), just need to top off the air, load up the water bottles and put a snack in the trunk, I’m ready to go.

Thank you. I wasn’t a big fan of it at first, but it quickly grew on me. Funny when I bought it, the LBS kept saying it was “Tarnish Grey”, and I thought that was a weird name for a paint color, but then I figured it’s Surly. Then later found out the actual name for the color was Tannish Grey, then after I took a closer look at the price tag it started to make sense.

Today I wiped the chain down and relubed it with 3-in-one dry lube. It's inexpensive and I've had pretty good luck with it in the last year since I started using it.

Interesting product. Do you know if it's a wax-based product, or graphite with a solvent carrier (which would then evaporate)? They didn't have a lot of information on their website about it.

When it dries it's waxy.

I did a thorough break down, cleaning, lubeing, and reassembly of my Crosstrail last night. Have it looking bright and shiny like the day I bought it, ready to roll like new. Was super stoked to ride it to work this morning to feel how much smoother it's running....

And then I couldn't get the kids organized in time to leave me time to get to work. And I can't ride tomorrow either because I need a car for work reasons. So I'm bummed.

On the plus side....my bike is going to stay nice and clean and purdy for 2 whole days! I might just go stare at it tonight while it's still shiny.

Installed my new Brooks B17 S and went for a short ride. It’s much better than the stock saddle. Very happy.

Moved grips/brakes/gears inboard by about an inch and a half either side. Seems much more comfortable, and a bit speedier. Gone from about 640mm to about 580mm. Dropped a big pile of pennies on bits & pieces so that I don't have to rely on a big handful of ball-bungies to hold bags & bits safely to the bike. Will drop more on more bits come pay-day. I'll post pictures when it's done.
