Real or Fake Colnago Chainring?

Picked up a set of Pat 77 cranks on fleabay with a Colnago pantograph big chainring.
The actual chain ring is not a Campagnolo one as far as I am aware as it has ~ 52 stamped on it.

Have seen a few examples fitted on bikes posted on the web that are the same style and chain ring maker, that would suggest a date range of about 1975 - 1978 for availability.

So, real or fake?

Has ~ 52 (i.e. teeth count) under the Ernesto Panto

Bought the Crankset for the genuine Campagnolo VGC 41T small cog. My first 41 T cog ever! The fake/real pantographed chain ring will either be sold or I will have to buy a Colnago to go with it.

Scraped of Ebay I think. Colnago Saronni with exactly the same Chainring including the ~ 52 marking

Picture of 41 - 52T Crankset purchased on Ebay Italy

Thanks for the super fast response.

Now to decide what to do with it as I not own any Colnago's although I do like the look of the Colnago Molteni paint scheme and Candy Apple Red Sarroni's bikes.

Sell or stash? Time for a good procrastinate.

I vote: sell.
The teeth look perfect and you don't have a bike this will "work" with.
Somebody who's jonesing for panto'd cr*p to hang on their 'Nago and doesn't care that it's an Ofmega ring might beat a path to you with fists full of dollars...

Didn't pantographing also happen outside of the manufacturer's factories as separate businesses that will do it with any brand that people want? These days will surely require all sorts of permission and licrnces to do that, but BITD, the companies weren't as sensitive to smaller cottage industries jumping into the game with them.....

I am one of those that likes the Panto bits on certain bikes. Most of them are third party modified or produced. I have a couple of Panto chain rings from Cyclomondo on my Colnago . The nice thing is , the small one is 41 tooth! These are mounted on a 144 BCD Ambrosio crank.

53 large and 41 small

I'm in the sell camp as well. It would be a significant undertaking to acquire all the parts for to mount this chainring on something and unless you have a large budget AND large desire to see it happen, better off selling it to someone who wants this chainring to complete their build. I don't own any panto'd parts, though I do like them, and my sensibilities suggest they are the cherry on top, something for a lil extra flair on a build, and not something to kick off a build. But hey, that's just me. You do you.

And using both a very wide cluster (looks like at least a 28t big cog) and a NR rear mech! Nice job getting all that to work together.

What defines fake? Colnago is also known for outsourcing. Licensing wasn't even on their radar regarding components. The more his name, the free advertising. Colnago even had a short run offering with Galli components, occasionally they pop up on Ebay. Only once have seen with the Colnago pantographing.

That said, long been a huge problem of Colnago's is the fake or 'knockoff' frames. Lots of them out there, vintage to modern.

Yep! Good eye, 28 tooth low on the FW. Big to big is not an option with this set up , but everything else seems to work fine. I moved the axle stop spring to outside the drop out and moved the axle as far back as possible in the drop out. Using a SRAM 8speed chain , can’t remember # of links. Thank you SurferRosa.
