What's everyone like to carry for a first aid kit, if you carry one at all? There used to be one on the market called "Road Rash" (yes, that is what they called it!)
and it came with a few band aids, some good sized gauze pads, a wound cleaning bar, etc. Small bag, fit into a seat bag nicely. I have not seen this on the market
for some time, not that I have looked a lot. Was wondering what some of you used, if anything.

Blood washes out small wounds. Cell phone. Other than that, the two major accidents I've been in, I don't remember. The two major accidents I witnessed, a helicopter.

I carry some moist towelettes (which can also be used as a quick clean-up after changing a flat), and a few band-aids, neither of which helped when I crashed and broke my arm. I should have had the electrical tape.

I bleed until I get home. When I've gone down the last thing I'm interested in is cleaning up road rash.

I thought it was sterile as long as there wasn't any blood or puss in the urine.

I carry a few bandaids and neosporin, and for anything serious I have the cell phone.

I carry some bee sting relief, butterfly band aids, alcohol wipes, clotting powder, gauze pads, neosporin and cling wrap.

Regular everyday riding, I don't carry anything other than a cell phone and a Road ID. When touring, I carry a generic store bought first aid kit. I passed a guy today with a nasty cut on his leg/knee. He didn't have a first aid kit, nor did I.

Last year, I went down in the rain. Landed on my face. A couple of minor cuts and scrapes, thought I lost a tooth and a gash inside my mouth. Washed my face with rain and my jersey, called my wife to keep her on standby and rode home.

This is a little extreme, but since you asked: I carry a CPR oral barrier. Also one of those Mylar blankets. My bent bag has room for it, and you never know.

I take electrical tape everywhere. I once biffed on a mountain bike and gashed my knee. I sprayed Bacteen on it and taped it shut. It did fine.

gauze dressings, gauze wrap, tape, antibacterial wipes. Napkins and paper towels can be helpful.

I carry an old 35mm film can. It has a few feet of electrical tape wrapped around it and contains butterflys, bandaids, ibuprofen, and a couple codeine. That's all I've ever needed. You have a water bottle to get it clean and antibacterial stuff can wait. Your socks will absorb the blood, no problem. I always have it in a jersey pocket. Just in case I can't treat myself, I have a Road ID dogtag around my neck. I usually have a cellphone, but that doesn't work if you're not in cellphone range of a tower.

For cuts and scrapes, I have the same thing that hospitals use - superglue. Of course they call it something else and charge 300 times as much for it.

Yes, I also have a film canister with a couple of band aids and Tylenol - and the unopened squeeze tube of superglue. I used to have a small roll of electricians tape in my bag, but it walked off somewhere. The moist towelettes are nice to clean up after changing a tire on the roadside. That reminds me - I've gotta replace those...

When I was young and doing hiking/camping/canoeing trips, my father used to pack up a first aid kit. He was a general practice physician (back when family doctors made house calls, and sometimes accepted baked goods in lieu of payment).

He would include suture needles and thread (with verbal instructions to just "sew up the wound like you'd sew up a tent hole"), and antibiotics.

The antibiotics came in handy once when a co hiker got very sick with a high fever (two days into the wilderness). But antibiotics were greatly abused in those days.

Like many of the previous posters, I get to where I'm going then deal with it. If it'll be more than a few hours and if I think it justified by the severity, I'll stop at a convenience store/pharmacy/grocery and get what I need.

I carry a few band-aids in my wallet (Remember when us guys carried something else in our wallets? How far we've fallen!) and a few wet-wipes. I've only needed a first-aid kit twice. Once when I dropped my front wheel into a gap between a driveway and the pavement and took a bad spill (But my sock and shoe soaked up most of the blood, so no foul.), and when my bike threw a chain while I was pounding up a hill and I fell and broke my kneecap in half. No band-aids were gonna help that day. The ride home was no fun at all.
