which vintage 70’s Trek frame for 200lb. rider

I’d like to find an early (76-78) Trek TX*** Touring frame/fork in a 24” size. I’ve read some were build from Reynolds 531, Columbus and Ishiwata Hi-Ten tubing.

I currently ride an 82’ Trek 728 with full Reynolds 531 f/f bike and I weigh in at 208 pounds. The 728 rides nice and so far I haven’t cracked or broken anything on this old bike. Wondering what the weight limits are on these old Trek steel frames. Would an Ishiwata hi-ten steel frame be better for my weight?

Overhaul; clean, inspect, re grease.. look at the wheels ,

they, like the rest of the bike,

may need service after all this time ... rims still good?

freewheel rear hubs break axles occasionally...
be prepared to replace them when it happens..

cables brake pads , and so forth..

I Don't know the crush weight of a bike frame , in your hands
Destructive testing is how you find out the limits of materials

I did for a Submarine ,
measured by water pressure increases of depth in feet..

..
