Has Salsa fixed their Warbird v4 fork problems?

Last November, Salsa put a "do not sell" order out on the Warbird v4 due to a defect in the bike's fork. Does anyone know if Salsa has fixed the issue yet? Are Warbird v4's available for purchase?

I just talked with Salsa. They said that they have found the solution to the problem are in the process of recertifying current inventory -- so complete bikes should be available for sale soon. He estimated framesets will be available . . . in May.

They are sending out replacement forks to customers who already bought the frames. The shops who have frames in inventory will be replaced once all customers who purchased before the recall have been taken care of.

Jeeze. What a mess. The restock time is just too late for the start of riding season

Just saw yesterday on a local Salsa dealer’s FB that 2019 warbirds are back in stock (apex, tiagra, 105 builds specifically - the ones with the affected forks).

Wasn't the issue that they could snap at the crown?

Did they offer cash to owners?

they never said what the problem with my mukluk fork was either, but I took the $250 and bought a suspension fork. I always assumed they broke and didn't worry much about it once I had my new fork.

My LBS just gave me a 3 week ETA. I told him I wanted the bike to do a race at the end of April. He said it shouldn't be a problem. We will see, but this sounds promising.

Hopefuly they get it--and hopefully that is time to shake out cruise it.

One of my mates is doing Land Run 100 in 2 weeks...and we're still in Frozen North mode up here. Only training he can do for it is hours of trainer time and treadmills.

And this weekend--another 3-5" of snow.

Just got back from my local salsa shop and they had a bunch of warbirds on the floor. They said the stop sale is over but wasn't sure if all the bikes they already had or just got a shipment.

It isn't much better here in Stillwater either, if that makes you feel any better.

UPDATE: 3 week ETA became early May (again), then late May, then last week . . . the most honest ETA of all . . . "indeterminate."

So I cancelled my Warbird order. My first gravel bike (6 years ago) was a titanium Warbird. I had hoped to go back to the Salsa fold via the Warbird v4. But it was not to be.

Sucks. When I was gearing up to do my gravel build 2 years ago now, I had a similar issue with sliding deadlines...And I bailed, and happily so. It ended up being the buy I first wanted would not have been in my hands until mid/late riding season after everything was said and done.

Upside, now you get to go window shopping again, and what is more fun than window shopping?

I placed my order for an Open (new) U.P. today. ETA for the frameset is 10 days. (As always . . . We will see.)

Wow, sorry to hear that. I sincerely hope I don't have to do the same. Sounds like you had been more than patient.....Salsa is losing a lot of customer goodwill. I sincerely hope they realize this.

My shop told me there's nothing wrong with the fork after all and they have two full bikes on the floor. What size and model are you guys looking at? They may ship it to you.

I was looking for a frameset. No need to look any longer. I'm moving on.

But thanks for thinking of us.

!!! PRAISE (insert your deity's name here) !!! My 2019 Warbird finally arrived and I took delivery last night.

Now, if the freakin' weather cooperates I just might be able to ride it this weekend.

I don't think the Warbird shenanigans ever made it to the CSPC stage until yesterday. AFAIK, it was just a "do not sell" order from the manufacturer to dealers....which apparently went out too late, or wasn't received, or was ignored.

Either way the CPSC posting it, only now, is almost as bad as the story about the baby carriages with QR skewers for non-pneumatic wheels (seriously)
