so Salsa can't be independent enough to announce a recall on their own?

Maybe if ya didn't hire a $15 hour burger flipper to design a bicycle fork? Or was the designer a Participation award participant?

Did you read the very first sentence of the article? "Back in January, Salsa Cycles independently and voluntarily recalled about 1,900 bicycles because of possible fork weakness."

I read the complete article.

Gear junkie is nothing more than a MN puff piece for MN outdoor companies like Salsa.

this Gear junkie article isn't a January publication but rather it is an APRIL ( Salsa ) CYA, pass the blame / bash the shutdown political puff piece.

the article says nothing new.....

The article doesn't deserve to be shared, and it is 100% political and definitely doesn't need to be on this forum. Bicycles or not..... its a political post.

Sorry, I guess I am just missing your point. You complained that Salsa wasn't "independent" enough to announce the recall. But they did actually announce it -- last January, I believe. It's why I couldn't find a Warbird to test ride this winter -- the shop had a few of them hanging from the ceiling, minus their forks which had been sent back to MN for testing. From posts on this forum, it seems like they also reached out to people who had bought those bikes before the recall, and took care of them, too.

So, please explain to me how Salsa didn't independently issue and announce a recall? I have no dog in this race....Just curious.

In simpleton terminology.

the time for Salsas buddies to produce and publish a Salsa recall puff piece would have been when Salsa QUIETLY issues a stop sale. Which was not April 5th 2019 !!!!!! And published without the political bull %^&*

The recall was all over the internet, on the Salsa/QBP website, etc. They seem to have contacted dealers and gotten their forks shipped back to MN, and they seem to have contacted previous buyers to make same arrangements, etc. Do you want them to take out a full-page ad in the New York Times? Maybe put a message on the Goodyear blimp?

You seem to have a grudge against Salsa, and that's your business. But while you're entitled to your own opinions, you don't get to just make claims up -- especially claims that are so easily refuted.

Then post the articles and that include "DATES" of a public published salsa fork "RECALL".

I say they don't exist back when the SILENT hush hush stop sale went out. You say they do. so Google them.....

No connection to Salsa or QBP. I've never even ridden a Salsa, much less owned one.

I think that if you actually do some research, you'll find that the "official" recall announcement was delayed by the government shotdown -- the CPSC was non-functioning and then (later) behind schedule. Despite that, Salsa took action on their own by testing and replacing forks. But somehow I think you're not interested in anything beyond bashing the company, so I'm out now.

The stop sale was issued last year not January. Basically weeks after the warbird v4 was released. So the whole January recall is bs. People who bought one at launch have had a very expensive paper weight for many months.

My goodness this thread took an ugly hard turn.
I did laugh at the claim of the article being political. Just because an article mentions a government agency doesnt make the article political.

and how was that a puff piece? Its simply an article that reported on a recall. It didn't place salsa in a good light(or negative really) and simply gave a synopsis of what's happened.

According to an April 3 facebook post and comments by Salsa, Salsa couldn't "offically" announce a recall until the CSPC approved it and they have been shut down. However this did not stop Salsa from fixing the issue on their own back starting back in December.

Okay, we already have SBW covering this the Recalls thread, you don't need to get cheesed and holler. Suggest this thread is closed.
