Do you HAVE to reglue every year?
Any known way to glue tires so that you don't have to reglue them at the start of the next season?
I use Mastik One and I have been lulled into false sense of security a few times now. Crashing out in my first races. I hate the work of regluing and the tires always seem still really good. I practice on them, train fast, etc. -- then do my first race which is MUCH faster and whammo roll a tire. I'm going to learn this year! Reglue!
...But I wonder if there's a tubie method which lasts longer. Like for 2 seasons, say.
I weigh 180 and like to run em soft -- the ol' 25psi game for cush and traction -- and offcamber tire roll-offs.

I typically get 2-3 years before retiring and regluing new tubulars. Current set went a forth season but I had leak issues the last two races of the season last year. I always run sealant in my tubulars, even when freshly glued.

This, follow Stan's method, tried and true. You shouldn't have to reglue, what a pita that would be. I cried a bit at the thought of pulling out the acetone in August each year.

I've never used tape. Someone I know and respect a lot that glues a lot of tubulars every year (professionally) does not use tape and has commented how much of a pain it is dealing with tape remnants when cleaning up to mount a new set of tires.

I'm about to take a set to the shop to ask them if the 4 year old glue job they did is still good.
The tires still have lots of tread and hold air fine. I store them in my basement and use them for a handful of days each fall.
If it weren't for horror stories on the internet of rolled tires, I'd probably just keep riding them, but I suppose the glue will fail at some point? I don't want to find out the hard way.
