Trek 7.2 FX new fork + drop handlerbars upgrade
My Trek 7.2 FX commuter has been badly vandalized. Someone probably kicked/jumped on the front wheel. Besides replacing a tacoed wheel and bent fork I wanted to take this opportunity to upgrade to drop handle bars.
I found a Nitto 105 locally for cheap and am looking for suggestions on fork, stem, brake levers, bar end shifters, etc.
I found really good info here
https://www.bikeforums.net/archive/in.../t-578606.html
I'm planning to buy the following
Tektro RL520 levers
https://www.tektro.com/02products/11rl.php
Shimano 8-speed bar end shifters
https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-SL-BS6.../dp/B000F5EFOC
Nashbar fork
https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product..._10000__200456
I'll work on the bike at a bike co-op so access to tools won't be an issue. I appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Try to find out what the rake on your current fork is and see whether this is similar to the replacement. The axle drop-out to crown race distance should also be similar to make sure that the bike's handling won't change.
I'm using a pair of those levers, and can vow that they work and feel very good.

Thanks. I have learned so much about brake types/levers compatibility in the past few days.
I emailed Trek and thankfully got the fork specs from them; went with the Forte Axis Carbon fork which doesn't have v-brake mounts. Can I use the Tektro RL520 levers with caliper brakes? What are my options here?

Can - yes. Recommended - no. Wire pull is different, so brake feel is different. Some are happy with it though.
Pretty much any "regular" drop bar brake lever meant for canti-caliper brakes.

The Tektro R200 levers work with caliper brakes. Nice levers for the money.
