New Old Rider Back in the Game - Hi
Hi:
I'm an LA gal who is getting back on the bike (a Marin Hwy 1), which I rode for the first time this past w/e - very pleased so for. Haven't ridden for ~10 years and experiencing all the old fun of getting back into biking shape.
I ride recreationally and am looking to do ~50+ miles a week - would love to train up to a century ride.
Anyway, hi everyone . . . take good care,
Rachel

Welcome. You aren't alone in getting back to the bike. I'm sure many are like me and had a too-busy life during some or all of their professional life and now find a bit more time to do some riding. I had a lull of about 20 years and got back to it a year and a half ago. I dropped 65lbs and this summer did a 130mi ride after my 60th birthday. My first ride killed my butt after less than two miles. Just keep adding a bit more each ride and as you know, you'll be doing a century soon enough. I did, however, also invest in a full carbon road bike and that made a huge difference...Welcome again.

Welcome aboard. That's a very nice bike to break back into the activity on. Should delay N+1 onset for a while at least.
Enjoy the ride.
Enjoy the ride.

Just Checkin In
Hi All:
Had a couple of rides this w/e (4th and 5th), just getting into the swing of it. Appreciate the great welcome from y'all, thnx. Looking forward to a couple of more rides in the next few days, but it's crazy busy with my business (also a lot of fun).
I was inspired by some of your sharing. I'm looking to drop a few pounds (~15) and get my legs back. Of course, I'm already sleeping better and aside from the occasional feeling of having a mild case of polio here and there my energy level and daily outlook are better. Hoping to do around 10 mi. per trip this weekend, shooting for 15 by late Oct.
Happy trails . . .

Welcome Rachel!! Good luck with your riding. I recently got back into riding myself after a 20+ year layoff. I'm in the LA area myself, specifically the south bay. I rode the Strand today.
