I used bike journals when I first started commuting, it was gratifying to see the totals go up when I got to work and made another entry. After a few years commuting I don't care anymore, I have some yearly averages that let me know enough about my maintenance schedule. So I can see having a component list.

Ha. I didn't even realize that there was scale in one of the pics. Near 20lbs isn't all that impressive for a road bike though, that is, if you are weight weenie.

Maybe his seat bag is full of something heavy. He didn't catalog the contents for us.

It's still early in the thread.

OP, we're just funning you. No malice intended.

For a geared alloy bike I would say anything under 20 is pretty darn good

+1 I too agree that it is motivating after a ride to plug in those miles, especially since I follow a published 10-week century training schedule with daily mileage quotas. I use a self-made Excel spreadsheet, and the accompanying graphs provide a visual encouragement.

I posted to this thread “did you track your miles in 2014?”

PS (to the OP and others): See, and perhaps post to this thread, "Describe Your Commute", using the template provided.

Daily posting in the How was your commute today thread and weekly posting in the mileage thread is a motivator for me. And more community oriented. Just knowing that there are a couple dozen of you out there that just can't wait to see what the temperature was for me today and if anything exciting happened or not make me want to ride.

Sheesh, set up a livejournal or pengu account or something if you want a private journal.

Or, you know, just write it down on a piece of paper? Spreadsheet?

This seems like the equivalent of spray painting it on the wall of a public building to keep track of something that only you care about.

^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^

There is already a thread for this purpose. I'm terribly sorry that you will have to share it, but that's life---love it or end it, just leave me out of yours.

When I opened BF there were thirty-eight people viewing the commuting section. What is this coming to? Will the first step in the commuting forum be to scroll down to the third page in order to get past individual threads from people who are not smart enough to set up an Excel worksheet in their own computer.

YOU HAVEN'T EVEN BOTHERED TO SPEND THE WHOLE LESS THAN A NICKEL A DAY THAT IT TAKES TO BE A SUPPORTING MEMBER.

MODS.................
AT LEAST MAKE IT A REQUIREMENT THAT FORM MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED TO HAVE A PERSONAL SECTION

My feeling is also that there is no place in the commuting forum for a personal diary. But if that's the way it's going to be...

Today they replaced my metal keyboard tray with a wooden one. I was getting a static electric shock when I touched the metal one that was somehow lifting the handset on my phone, 4 feet away. Very weird.

Stay tuned for some more really interesting stuff I have to post!!!

There, that's better than "How far I rode today"---Hell, we all do that.

I'm glad that maintenance was able to find a solution to your "shocking" problem.

Keep us up to date on how it works out.

After some discussion among the moderator team, we've agreed that threads like this would be more appropriate here in the Blogger's forum.

bought my 3rd CAAD10 5 56cm. Gave the 2011 black to one of my younger brothers. I still have the 2013 Team Replica and the 2014 Jet Black. Took the '14 jet black on its maiden voyage today. Rides like a brand new bike should. Took some pictures, as is, weighing in at 19.40 lbs. When the time comes to replace parts, I may go the weight weenies route. I've got time to save up, as I suspect the current parts should last me a few years, depending on how much I ride. I also own several motorcycles that I ride when the weather is nice. But, those are other stories. On to the pictures.....
