Recommendation for Road Tires on Amazon
I have a credit on Amazon and looking for tire recommendations for a few vintage bikes. What do you guys recommend with a tan sidewall, perferably. I mostly do casual rides on paved roads.

Twenty bucks is more than I've ever seen the Nitros advertised for. Also not available in tan wall? I bought 6 of the all black Nitros in the 700x25 size for $3.75 each in some special post Xmas deal on one of the big online retailers. (Nashbar, I think?) I would put them in the "heavy, feels durable" class. About comparable to the CST "fixie" tires available in all colors of the rainbow on eBay for $15 or so, shipped. I put about 80 miles on one set of the Nitros before I pulled them for a set of 25mm Conti GP4000 IIs. The Nitro was an Ok tire (especially at that price!) but relatively dead feeling.

I recommended nitros since theyre on the low end of tire prices but still last...at least in my experience 2 years of riding.
I use nitros on my bikes I use least and higher end tire like Michelin on my daily riders.

When I don't want to spend a lot, I also go with the Panaracer Paselas. They are a good value for the money, ride well, and look right on vintage bikes.

My go to tires are Panaracer Paselas, Continental Classic and Veloflex Master, depending on the current sales and the bike they are going on.

I was on Amazon.ca recently searching for deals on Tubulars. I came across a set of Schwabe Pro ones they listed 22's 24's and 26's at $136.15 each... But they had the 28's at 59.95 each. So I bought a set. I checked my order the next Day and the price had gone up to $136 each. I am in at $59.95 cdn. It will be interesting to see what arrives in the Post next Week.
As far as Clinchers go Veloflex Masters Vittoria Corsa's are hard to beat.

Also +1 +1 for Veloflex Masters and Vittoria Corsas when the Amazon gift card is buying.
And then there's old trusty, the Continental GP4000IIs. These are still my go-to when I'm not in the mood to experiment. Problem here is Amazon prices are all over the board on these and I try to never spend more that $36 ea.

I just mounted a set of Panaracer Paselas on my Raleigh Super Course. They are 28c and replaced a set of well worn Gatorskin 25s. I think they ride better, but give up nothing in rolling resistance or handling that I can see. I like the looks, too .

Another for Panaracer Paselas-- but good luck getting tan walls from Amazon Fulfillment. I ordered tan walls twice, even going to far as to verify the UPC code both times... and got blackwalls both times. There is no better $20 tire.

There's another thread on these Clements and the upshot is that the quality control on them is poor. I, and at least one other forum member has had major issues with them being out of round.

Interesting feedback on Schwalbe. I'm about to have my first experience with their 1 racing clincher. Actually a very light tire so hopefully not plagued by the dead feel you've experienced with them.
