rear hub/freewheel 2012 CADD 8 105

Does this unit have free bearing or is a baring set. Does this unit required lube or maintenance?

In general, the axle bearings are cup and cone, and the freehub is replaceable, but not serviceable.

If you get the part number from the hub, you can find exploded drawings on Shimano's website.

Shimano cassette bodies are fairly easy to flush and lube. Doing this every 7K-12k miles will help it last for a very long time. Tutorial here.

Glad to help. YouTube is great for maintenance and repair videos. Much easier to see it done than have it explained IMO especially when I'm trying to explain it. I also hate throwing things away when some occasional maintenance or repair can make it last for many more miles. Also Shimano cassette bodies like a heavy oil such as the Phil's in the video or heavy automotive gear oil or if you happen to use "Chain L" chain lube I find it to be one of the best. Too light of an oil and it will seep through the seals in med-hot weather and grease is too heavy and can cause the pawls to stick especially in colder weather.
