Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Front wheel problems.

I ride fulcrum 1 racing wheels and hubs and have had good luck with them over the years. Today though I noticed the front wheel not turning well, obvious resistance. The tire and wheel is free from brake pads, frame and brake calipers. No obvious contact points. When removed the wheel spins fine, It is only when placed in fork and the lever closed. If my spare wheel, same type and tire, is used to replace it there is no problem.. Any ideas?

Is there a preload adjustment on the bearing cartridges? Maybe too loose and has caused bearing damage. Turns fine when bearing preload is loose, but when tightened in the dropouts with the skewer, the bad bearings are resisting rotation. ?? Maybe.

Yup, that's the answer, just dropped the bike off at the LBS for a complete overhaul.
Note to self, no more deep puddles.
