An easy 23 km ride under rabidly humid heat. I took the train to the outskirts of my city and then followed a river until the sea. My first semi-serious ride with this bike, trying to get a bit of speed. It was funny passing all those people in full-spec mountain bikes riding at a snail pace (against the serious riders I obviously hadn't got a chance). One wonders, why get a double suspension 29 in wheels mountain bike just to casually stroll around on pavement or hard-packed dust? The look on their face were wonderful, a mix of the usual "Crap someone rides faster than me, now my male ego is hurt" with the addition of "is this fellow really driving a fixed-gear folding bike?"

Took the bike out this morning after rains had stopped. It had rained several inches in the city I live about 20 miles out. All of the run off from the mountains and the city dump into the Santa Cruz river which is where I was riding. I got to see the water level rise several feet very quickly.
The path under the bridge is where I started my ride and this pic is maybe 40 minutes later. Record rainfall here in Tucson and phoenix today.

Few more pics. The Santa Cruz is about 200 yds across and where I am standing when I took this picture it is about 20 to 25 feet deep. Snakes were driven out up onto the path I saw 5 within 1 mile. It was incredible to hear trees snapping one after the other. Good times and if it wasn't for my bike I would have never seen it.

Freemason symbol on the digs? I didn't know freemasonry was so hip. I guess it is if you wear it ironically.

Ironically I crashed and put a hole in my thigh. It was super sweet. Still rode dangerously for another month until I cut my fork and put a spacer and top cap on. I like to live dangerously. Someday I'm going to put caps on my bar ends.

This is more like 2,500 pics. A time-lapse I put together from a ride from Queens into Brooklyn over to Manhattan, uptown and then back to Queens.

Watching that time lapse just made me thankful for my empty roads.
