27 Inch Gravel Tires
I'm planning on riding the old carriageways around Minnewaska Lake in upstate New York. These paths are (I believe) primarily crushed stone, with some dirt and bare bedrock sections. My wife's bike is an old Trek Elance with 27" wheels currently shod with 1.25" wide Panaracer Pasela TGs. I'm thinking they will likely be up to the task, but I'm still concerned about washout, climbing on soft stuff, etc. Also, my wife gave me quite a dubious look when I told her that her tires would be find. I know that Continental Tour Rides would be a great fit, but apparently there are no pairs of these in all of North America. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks.

I used these guys for a little bit on a bike before converting it to 700c wheels.
I still have them hanging up in the basement. Send me a PM if you're interested, I'll make you a really good deal

Paselas should be fine for crushed limestone roads, and most other surfaces other than mud or loose sand. I had a pair of 27" Paselas on an old Fuji bike that I rode on the Katy trail sometimes, and it was fine. If you only expect limited sections of soft stuff, you could just push the bike.

If you are looking for something cheap that you can use for the ride and then put the regular tires back on, I suggest these tires if you have the frame clearance for 27X1 3/8 knobby tires.........

I am running these on my commuter bike and I really like them even if they are a little slower than slicks. I have no issues blasting down dirts roads and loose gravel with these tires..........

I'd just go with the Panaracers. They should be fine as long as the paths are reasonably groomed. I've got some 700c Panaracers on my Tricross at the moment, and they've been fine for the gravel I've hit so far. I don't see a huge difference with your Contis. I did buy some Clement X'Plor Ush tires for some of the rougher stuff I'll likely hit, but haven't mounted them yet.
I used to take my narrow tire road bike on the well groomed Katy Trail earlier.
How much time do you have? You can just order your Continental TourRides.

Yeah,
Unfortunately not enough time to order from overseas - looking to go the weekend of June 11. Looks like my choices right now are the Paselas, the Kenda K161 (no thread count listed), and possibly the Schwalbe HS159 (very low thread count).
