Seems I have found my desire to ride again. Not staggering numbers, but at least I'm back on my bike on a more consistent basis.

June 12 = 14.97
June 13 = 11.78
June 14 = 10.68
June 15 = 11.35

MTD = 103.66

Great job! That's the spirit.

I added 36.88 miles today. The wind finally quit so the ride after work was rather pleasant although a bit on the warm side @ 80°F when it started. A great day to go ride up a mountain!

Good news. Consistency is key, more than the numbers. The habit saves you when you are down.

It's wonderful! I always wanted to do this, but was afraid that I was too old, too whatever...Always a million excuses. I bought a road bike for my 57th birthday in April and it was the best birthday gift ever! The pounds are coming off but the best part is that I feel better all day even when I'm not on the bike.

6-16: 21 mile bike ride with my wife. First ride since I had the surgery. Felt great but the stint irritates the bladder and makes you want to go pee every few miles. That was fun!

You are my age, I was nearly 57 when I got my road bike last fall. So true about feeling better all day, even when not on the bike. And sleep is better too.

Except now, as I have a raging case of poison ivy and barely could sleep last night.

And your goal for this month? Let's see, it's only the middle of the month and you're at 400. An 800 mile month would be simply amazing.

Looks like I'll crush my goal of 300 miles this month. I rode 32 miles today and that brings up my total for the month to 296 miles. I'm going to ride tomorrow and try to do at least 20 miles... but I might just ride to the next town over and make the 37 mile round trip!

I also got to save this tiny gopher tortoise. I was on a pretty good downhill and I thought he was a pine cone. Since I didnt want to hit a pine cone I went around it by a few inches and realized what he was. I turned around to get him out of the trail because people go pretty fast though that spot. I went back and checked my GPS and I was going 19 mph on my mountain bike when I passed him...road bikers really book it through there. This was on the Gainesville Hawthore rail trail BTW.

My goal was for less than 1 mile... I failed at that on day 1. Honestly I don't think I'll get 800 miles in, but 500 - 750 is within reach.

***Damn it I just realized I forgot to put in 4.2 miles where my Garmin shut off. So I have over 402 miles so far this month.

Todays ride of 125km put me at 360km for the week. so I'm looking at 910km with two weeks to go. I may just make my 1000 miles yet.

In the midst of the 3rd most devastating monsoon season ever recorded in the island's history, I managed to log a lousy 27.9 miles last week... on a stationary bike. With only 13 days and 260 miles to go, I probably won't be able to finish my 450-mile goal, but I am not gonna give up now. I'm gonna push it hard and see how close to the goal I'll get.
