FS: 1985 Eddy Merckx Professional, Faema livery
1985 Merckx Professional. Columbus SL tubing. Campy Centaur groupo. (10spd) This bike features several pantographed parts and includes another, shorter, pantographed stem that I’ve been in the process of restoring. Just got it polished. This bike includes two wheelsets. First are the Mavic Gel 280 tubulars. Originally had tan sidewall tires, but I’m not a fan of that look, so black walls it is. The other wheelset are clinchers I purchased (On The PL) from a local (SF Bay area) guy who built them himself. I don’t remember what the hoops are, but it has Campy Record hubs. The Campy stickers on the rims are decorative. The crankset has compact chain rings and I believe the cassette is a 12-27. Also included are the wonderful Merckx bottle cages. I imported these from Belgium, took a long time and a bunch of $$ to obtain. This bike rides like its on a rail. So smooth and stable. Climbs far better than I would have thought and descends like a bat out of hell. The paint is not perfect, but it really is exceptional, a few scratches and nics here and there, but not much! I also have a few bits and pieces that go with this bike, the original bars it came with, some bar end plugs and I’ll include a Faema jersey (lg.) that I bought to wear when I rode this bike.

I am asking $2,000 or best offer. We'll work out shipping, boxing and Paypal fees. This bike is a stunner and gets lots of comments every time I ride it. Super well cared for, and it has always stayed IN my house, not the garage. Trying to thin down my collection...

I owned this bike for a number of years before Broid bought it from me. The only reason I sold it was because I also own a De Rosa in the same size. This is one of the best frames I have ever owned, but I decided to not be a collector, and didn't need bike that ride identically. The pink De Rosa was harder for me to sell than the Faema Merckx, and the Merckx was pretty painful to sell.
The paint is/was spectacular, and the decals are quite rare for this model.
That being said, Brian, check the top tube length. I seem to recall it was 54.5 c-c.
Whoever buys this will not be disappointed.
