Glad to have a "modern" bike with a chrome molybdenum frame. The "granny" gear on the triple is great on hills, and it's nice to know it has rear rack and fender mounts, as well as

a pump peg. I guess it's a sports tourer. Very practical bike, and it moves along the road very nicely! Here's a photo of the Litespeed (made in Tenessee, USA). High Five from New York!

As you might tell I'm pretty new to the hole vintage racing bike universe. Thx so much in advance happy to provide more pics floopi
Welcome to the forums. The bicycle is definitely an early 1980s (Piaggio era) Nuovo Racing but based on the fork crown I suspect it amy be slightly earlier than 1984. The serial number will reveal the year of manufacture and will be stamped in two sections, one on each side of the seat lug.

The bicycle has been extensively modified with replacement saddle, wheels, rear derailleur, pedals, brake levers and possibly brake calipers. It also appears to be a repaint with new decals. Bringing it back to OEM spec would be an expensive proposition, far more than the bicycle would be worth. If you're happy with the bicycle, enjoy it as it is. Change only what you need to make it a more enjoyable experience.

Picture assist...

...if you look around on here, and maybe do some forum searches using Google with the limiting term "Bikeforums.net" as part of your search string, you'll find some instances where people have modified those NR rear derailleurs to a longer cage. Then you have more options on your largest rear cog. Or you can just replace the rear derailleur with the Campy long cage derailleur or something else. I agree with your instincts that changing out a lot of stuff might be a bad idea, but your other option is to swap out the crank for something that will accept a smaller inside ring, but still looks similar.

I can ride the hills here with that gearing, but most of them are pretty short. And you want to ride it.

Hi Bianchigirll - actually it looks like a Grizzly Team frameset from late 90's - front badge is different from the one in the 1997 catalogue so maybe 98/99? The rest of the bike is a recent rebuild.

I've been ignoring my Trofeo for quite some time when it comes to cleaning, maintaining, upgrading so i started by tossing the old Schwalbe tires and throwing on a new Prologo saddle. The turbo didn't quite fit the look of a modern vintage build. Im scouring the interwebs this weekend for the perfect tires.

23's?!? They still make those?

and forget trying to wedge those on carbon wheels...I know all too well too

this guy tried mounting vitt corsa's with plastic levers and chipped the wheels, so I purchased and fixed it with some epoxy

One of my two weims decided to join in.

Inspired my malcala622's 5/27 photos, I decided to do an homage. Here's just a couple of my Bianchi's, also with a grey dog. My '09(?) San Jose, my '96 and '99 San Remo, and my Sport SX fresh from repaint in a new colorway with new decals; still waiting for my new brake cables and seatpost to arrive, but all the original sakae and shimano golden arrow components are being redone in Campy.

Hi Tricky - this bike is also an amazingly good ride - stiff, light and fast. Massively underrated frame set in my view.

Very cool. I came up mountain biking in this era so it's cool seeing this rig.

Does anyone here own a Selle Italia Turbo saddle? Not super turbo or Mundialita. I can't seem to find a picture of a celeste turbo.

1977 Campione del Mondo CX

I just picked up this Bianchi yesterday. The guy I bought it from said he thought it was a 1980 bike but didn’t sound confident. I couldn’t find a serial number. The back of the crank arms are 1976. The front sticker brings up the CX when I google it but not much info. I’m kind of curious about the 2 numbers. The 170 is for the Strada but 2.8 or 28? Hmm... thoughts?
