Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Questions regarding changing road bike parts

So i'm new to the whole bike parts scene so I apologize for my lack of using proper terms. I have decided to swap out some things on my Cannondale Caad8. I recently picked up the Elite Aero VR-CF handlebar by Bontrager for a pretty good price. My bike has the old Shimano Sora shifters where you use your thumbs to go down the gears. I wanted to update my bike to the shifters that have the shifting at your fingers. I was shopping around the used market and found an updated Sora groupset. The problem I have is that my bike is Rim Brakes instead of disk brakes and the ad for the parts says mechanical disk brakes. So my questions are, Would I be able to use the new shifters on the bontrager handlebar I purchased and can I use the shifters and derailleurs on my rim brake bike? I don't plan to convert my bike into disk brake if that's even possible and I don't know the exact model of the sora groupset.

If the new Sora shifters are mechancal, then they should work on disc or caliper brakes.

And the handlebar will be fine.

Thanks to both of you! This helps a lot. I was searching the internet but couldn't find my answer.
