It was cold, 44 at BP at 8AM, went down to 40 in some places. One buddy wore shorts and forgot his long fingered gloves. Never got above 50. Beautiful day though.

Fog....
It was sunny and light breeze so I planned on going to the beach. After crossing the 1st bridge it got foggy, the 2nd bridge the dew was forming on my glasses and the air was heavy and wet. I decided to turn back at the "pencil" and head north. It got better but eventually the fog followed me. My once clean bike was not filthy from sand and dirt sticking to the wet frame.
52 miles @ 16.7mph.

At the VFW on Braddock avenue
I stopped for the Armored Personnel Carrier. Mutual Respect
Rode west on Hillside Avenue, it was fresh asphalt with no markings until Denton Ave (5 corners). Then it became grooved pavement, so I went over to Jericho Turnpike. After crossing the CRIP, I turned onto Braddock Avenue. Rode 93rd street a ways, went back to Jericho Turnpike. Then 89th street, then Sutphin Blvd to the LIRR station. Came home by flashing my cyc-n-ride pass.

Spent 90 minutes waiting to vote at Oyster Bay South Town Hall.
They hearded you into a a 20x35 meeting room with way too many people in it with a single door for entry and exit.
It was far from optimal.

There are only 15 locations open in Nassau for early voting and from what I've seen there are long lines at many of them and I would suspect all. I will wait till Election Day when the all the usual locations are open. Good to see the turnout though.

I had planned to vote on Monday in North Merrick. The line was from the library through the parking lot and down the block. So, my wife and I had lunch and swung by again. It was longer, so we thought that we would try Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday. It looks like we will vote on the day of the election at our usual voting place. It will be interesting to compare this year to previous years. I expect there will be more people voting this year.

Being that according to news reports over half the voters who voted in 2016 have already voted, I am hoping and expecting short lines on Tuesday morning

Pleasant surprise today. I dismounted the tubeless tires on my MTB for the first time, after 20 months, with trepidation about the state of the Orange Seal inside. I anticipated a vile task of scraping out sealant boogers and slime. The stuff looked like I had just put it in, no solidification at all, so topped each tire off with another 50cc of the "Subzero" formulation as I do most of my MTB riding in the dead of winter. MY DIY inflator made from a dead fire extinguisher worked like a charm although there were terrifying sounds as the tire seated itself, and there is no sealant on floor, walls or ceiling.

Frosty beautiful morning for a 38 miler to St Roccos bakery in Glen Cove. Around 10 of us escorted one of our old buddies who escaped to Colorado years ago, on a trip down memory lane on a borrowed bike. Great day.

I was out yesterday.... too the SuperX out for the first time since March and wanted to make sure it was in good order. Took the Bethpage path which was covered with wet leafs and did the fire road in the preserve and some single track. The bike quickly got filthy which is why I have it... to save the Emonda.
Speaking of the Emonda.. 26,000 miles and got a killer deal on some parts.

Got this out near exit 55 on the LIE today. Fortunately somebody had an actual boot, even if it was 10 years old and no glue, we made it work and I rode 12 miles back to the car. 3 more might not have been possible, the crack got worse and the tube was peaking thru.

Nice job. Continental tire?
I once had to make a boot out of a hunk of leather from the tongue of my shoe. Turned a shoe into a boot, eh? The shoes were nearly done already, and that settled the matter.

Yes, 5000's, sorta new this past spring, but easily 2000 or more miles on them, and this was a hit nothing would survive.
This is maybe the 2nd time in 31 seasons I've had to boot a tire,
I'm heading to Brands next week to buy some extra boot's though.

I'm taking a few days off. On Friday I thought I clipped in but wasn't and my foot slipped. It's right on the bone and for the past 2 days a nerve keeps firing and it feels like i'm being electrocuted. I'm sure i'll feel better just in time for the rainy days.

beautiful day, crisp wind and not a cloud in the sky.
Went to Northport and back on the CX bike.
Ankle is better but still hurts.

It can be a beautiful time of year. We headed up to Glen Cove again, 36 miles. My back was sore from digging post holes but riding actually felt soothing. Bike well decorated with leaf mulch......

I've learned that the add-on weather app on my Garmin lies about wind speed. That app stated "NW, 9.5 mph". It was and has been at least 5 - 8 mph more that stated. Our route this AM routed us north, then south on Round Swamp, then to the south shore, then north into the wind for 5 miles into a steady 15 or so, seemed like gusting to 20. Going to be worse tomorrow. Going to take the gravel bike out to Edgewood for a few laps.

Wind was roaring again today......a bunch of the boys decided to ride the woods because of it, in spite of warm 50 degree temps. Great day and the B'page trails were pretty dry, surprisingly. Puddles in the usual sections north. Replaced most of last years dirt with fresh.
