I always find these stories a little sad...
Last summer I purchased this 2008 Specialized Hardrock Sport with the intention of starting to ride. I spent close to $450. Well, I rode it once and ran over something and popped the front tire. Long story short is it hasn't been ridden since. So it is in perfect condition except needs the front tire repaired/replaced (not sure which considering I don't know anything about bikes). Back tire is flat right now as well (assuming from sitting in storage since last summer).

Since this is the 'wacky' thread, I thought of posting a well-designed CL listing for a change. What's more wacky than a good CL posting? I didn't think this deserved its own thread but wanted to share it anyway.
I love the photography and image editing on this one. A beauty to look at.
I don't think his bike is really worth as much as he's asking for it, but this is a nicely set up listing:

I like the bike, too. So much, when the below came up in my size, I was interested:
The only description: "Schwinn Paramount OS 61cm seat tube center to top. Top Tube is 59.5 center to center. Frame is used. UPS shipping $30.00"
Local to me and free pick-up, but as I requested more detailed photos (to no avail) and better description, I eventually pulled this information: "used with paint chips. One dent from the fr brake". Guess I would have been the numbskull had I bid on a bike not knowing it had a top tube dent. Seems something a seller should note, IMHO.

Could the rear wheel be dished too much?

Maybe we should suggest that to the seller of the basket.

This is a very special bike. When I bought this bike, I spent almost $2000 on it. I didn't want to race, I only wanted an exotic bike that would go fast. This one does, but is a great lightweight touring bike too. The bike is a Suntour lightweight but very strong steel frame (most people don't know the famed Suntour racing company that is known for high tech racing parts for bicycles actually built some very special bike frames too), with Shimano racing gears, and Mod Grand Prix handlebars (Italy), with shoe lock peddles an through the frame cables. (I have the chain off the sproket which explains the lack of tension on the drive chain.) The third photograph shows the Suntour hallmark on the rear fork of the frame. The standover height is 31 inches and it ha a custom lime green color.. While the technology of racing bikes has changed a little, since I purchased this bike, if you are looking for a bike that has some of the best qualities of exotic racing machines is easy to ride, fast and beautiful, in great condition, (stored inside), you should look at this one. I have it priced at a bargain $275 or best offer, as this great bike should be ridden and appreciated. Email me at ALKoffice@yahoo.com or call me directly to come see it at 305-893-**** and ask for Alan.

The chainstay could probably be cold-set, but his asking price becomes a bit more atrocious if you've got to tweak the frame.

News flash: Metric parts will thwart thieves.
Nishiki Fixie - $500
Nishiki 57cm
This was a project bike and runs fast and smooth. All parts are metric (the reason I did this, is to prevent punks from stealing parts off your bike, because they won't have proper sized tools), Vuelta Deep-V wheel set (high gloss white; Deepest V made before having to convert to carbon fiber), Sugino crank arms, custom black bars, Oary grips, custom front brake system, Mercier seat, etc. Easily can be made a fixed gear...has flip-flop hub.
