Bicycle front suspension question
I just bought a used 2007 Specialized Crossroads and I was playing around with the black knob at the top of the front suspension trying to tighten or loosen the shocks since I noticed the knob has a “+” and “-“ on it. No matter how far I turned it one way or the other, it didn’t seem to change anything. I know on this bike there are suppose to be two knobs on both sides of the suspension but there was only one since the seller said that it had fallen off and she just replaced it with a cover. I took the cover off the other side and looked inside and it was empty. It was hollow…I’m not sure if it is suppose to be hollow and how can I fix it to start being able to adjust the tension on the suspension. I couldn’t find any parts guide for the bike either.
But does a hollow tube inside the front suspension make sense? Shouldn’t there be some kind of spring or liquid in there?

usually cheap suspension forks only have springs and dampers in one side, the other just mirrors what the damped side does.
It is not abnormal, you are fine, its not something that even effects the ride since the fork is pretty bad to begin with.
And the cheaper the suspension fork the less the knobs do.
