Check out my new entry level 29er!
I decided I wanted a 29er but there were only a few in my price range that I know of (Trek Gary Fisher Marlin, Specialized Hardrock 29ers, and the Felt Niner Trail). I couldn't test the Trek out since my local bike shops were not getting them until early November. I tested the Specialized and the Felt. The Felt looked nicer, rode nicer for me, and was cheaper. So far I am loving it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get into mountain biking but who doesn't have the money to spend on a more expensive bike.

Good looking bike. congrats on that. I just put together a Motobecane Fantom 29 from DB yesterday. Only rode it a couple of miles because of the late hour but heading out in a half hour to ride 10 or 15 miles. Very psyched about it.

I was thinking about a Motobecane but even though it comes almost completely assembled, I probably would mess something up putting the rest together. Maybe my next bike I will get from them. Post some pics when you get the chance. I would love to see your bike.

That's more than an entry level 9er!! I have the 09 Felt Nine Race and they're the same frame! I love mine (mine's full XT; same frame)! You'll get miles and miles of great enjoyment out of it!

I am going to ride the hell out of it and when parts break, I will replace with slightly better components.

Random but I like that bottle you got. Won the same one at my first race. But anyway... I dont think thats entry level either. Especially compared to mine. (singlespeed, v-brakes and full rigid)

Off to the rainy Bahamas tomorrow morning, but if I remember I will post a pic or two of the Moto. Rode it 30 miles the last couple days, love it. Assembly was very easy , but I took my time and watched a few you tube vids.

I have a Tanita Digital scale that i used. I weighed myself and then myself holding the bike. The difference was 32.6 lbs. I guess this should be pretty close to the weight. From what I can tell, this is pretty much average weight for a 29er in that price range. Also it looks like it costs a lot more money to get a bike not that much lighter.
Felt used to list weight estimates. It looks like if you spend $700-1000 more on a bike your bike will be maybe 3lbs less. I guess you are really paying for the better components because the weight difference isn't that much. A cheaper route would be to take some laxatives the night before to loose a few pounds

I just wonder what my last steel framed 1999 GT Saddleback weighed.

Back from the trip and figured out how to use the camera again. Here is the pic of the new Mot 29er. I really enjoy it so far.
