Help identifying bus vs. bike video
Don't bother reading the comments, they're all vile. Does anyone know the source of this video?

It is not a bus vs bike, it is bus vs idiot protesters.

Well if the bikes are stupid enough to just sit down on the road in front of the bus, they got what they deserved.

Let’s see … a bunch of protesters erect a barricade in a roadway to block traffic. A vehicle pushes through the barricade, allowing all the people who use that road to have access.
But … because the protesters used Bicycles to block the road … we don’t even care what they were protesting, or why. We automatically have to fall into lockstep and take their side because, Man, we are all brothers, Bro.
But there will always be those few who just aren’t team players … or who identify the teams differently.
I see a bunch of hooligans blocking a thoroughfare for selfish reasons.
If they had used E-bikes, everyone here would hate them.
If they had used burning tires, or cars, we all would have said, “What a bunch of idiots, blocking the roads. Cyclists cannot get through.”
But because they made barricades with bicycles, they are automatically in the right?
I hope no living being was injured.

We don't see a lot of comedy in this sub forum. That video was a refreshing change of pace.

If you want to talk about idiots, talk about the driver who broke the law, damaged private property, put his passengers in risk of injury, and should lose his/her job.

Bikes cant' be stupid, silly. They need to be able to think or mimic thought in order to be stupid. Didn't they teach this things in school?

So it appears this happened in Santiago, Chile, at least according to some of the comments. Anyone know enough about the context to understand what this is about?

In either case, the bus would have proven their point.

Maybe not. Note that the bicycles look like docking rental bikes. Could be a protest against docking rental bikes. Some businesses really hate having a docking station taking a parking space in front of their store.

Thanks!
This puts it in a very different perspective, it was part of a general unrest situation with a verrrrrryyyy long history.
Who was in the right here is really a political debate having nothing to do with bicycling advocacy or safety--bikes were just props in a legitimate/illegitimate show of defiance against the government.

Cycling and public transport should be on the same side, so the protesters picked the wrong location.

You mean set up free-speech zones like GWB did which was something he learned from the People's Republic of China.

I would expect the bus to slow down a bit to make sure it is safe to proceed. However, it may well be that stopping could put the passengers at risk of violence. So, going forward may be safer for everyone (as long as there isn't a human chain across the road).

If it were up to me, I'd make it mandatory for anyone that has any influence in the planning, development, construction and/or upkeep actually use the system they help to create.
As far as I'm concerned, that's the single biggest disconnect all transit systems have in this country.

Not sure about Chile at this time, but there are a number of South American countries that I would bust straight through any road block to avoid a possible assault, robbery and/or kidnapping.
