Metro and Amtrak down for 2 weeks
between Laguna and Oceanside. I got this email today:
Dear Rider,
I’m sorry to let you know that Metrolink service for San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente and Oceanside stations will be suspended beginning tomorrow, Thursday, September 16. Metrolink must immediately perform emergency work to stabilize the tracks in the San Clemente area and ensure the safety of our operations. Regular service will be available north of the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station.
I apologize that this comes at short notice and understand the impact that has on your daily travel, but your safety is our top priority. We expect the work to take two weeks to complete, and our goal is to resume service no later than Monday, October 4, 2021.
Unfortunately, there will be no replacement bus service for the San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, and Oceanside stations, so please adjust your travel plans accordingly. I promise to keep you updated, and if work is done earlier than expected, you will be the first to know. For more information on the track closure, please click below.
