Identifying Brooks Saddle
Hey,
I came across this brooks saddle and wanted to know what model it was. It looks to be Brooks Swallow but looks a little different. So, I thought I would ask the experts here!

The Swallow was my first thought, too, but the OP's saddle has a mid-section brace riveted in place that is not in SJX426's Swallow and that I don't recall ever seeing before on any Brooks saddle. Understand, I am no kind of Brooks expert, so my thoughts are worth exactly what you are paying for them.

Yeah, the mid brace being riveted and the rivets being copper throws me off. One thing I notice is the older Brooks logo plate which dates the saddle back to mid 90s. Also the said plate is not centered properly. Perhaps it was refurbished some time ago. Now that I compare with another swallow, it also seems the saddle bag loop is not present.

Didn't notice the brace. Without a side view, I wasn't sure if the profile of the skirt is the same or not. Don't know if the style varied over time either.

Large copper rivets? Pro is my guess.
Side shot, rear shot, front shot would help. It also looks 'butchered' by the uneven edge of the rear skirt.

That centre bracket looks like a mod with its small rivet.

That could be plausible although I wonder how the modder was able to cut away the leather cleanly with pro models having the stamp on the side. I've been searching for pictures of a variant of a Brooks swallow for awhile and I don't see any model resembling this. If this is a pro model indeed I actually don't mind as I do actually love Brooks Pro and I would actually prefer a pro over a B17 although I have not tried swallow or swift yet. I may try to purchase this for a right price...

@jameskm - I have several Pros and the best one is the oldest. I don't' even know it is there.
I tried a swift and didn't like itl Maybe I didn't use it long enough but compared to newer Pro it was less comfortable.
The Swift was traded for a Swallow, of which I have two. They are not quite broken in but are much more comfortable than the Swift.
I also have a C13 Cambium that is not as comfortable as the Swallow. I recently moved it and now it is better. it may be a positioning issue that hasn't be resolved.

The steel bracket holding the center together is from a Wrights or Lycett swallow (both were Brooks products) from the early 60"s. The rest of the saddle is a Pro with copper rivets.
