Baggies

Time for new baggies.

I've been using performance boulder shorts for a couple years, but I'm finding that I'd like a higher quality liner with a little bit better padding and um...some support. Shorts that are actually cut for a riding position would be nice too.

Any suggestions?

I have a pair of baggies I never wear. I also have a pair of lyrca short that I wear shorts over. I find that works much much better.

Zoic makes decent baggies.

Regular lycra shorts will always fit better than any baggies...

I had a pair of Fox shorts, they were nice. But like the others I prefer lyrca shorts.

It seems as if you are "supposed" to wear baggies while mountain biking and lycra on the road. Why?

I'm mostly a roadie and I wear lycra for both. I bought some baggies with a gift certificate. They're not bad, but I don't see the need. I don't wear them much.

My wife, on the other hand, hates the way she looks in lycra and will only wear baggies. Does this have any bearing on my original query?

BDU's are more resistant to tearing on limbs and rocks if you tank a jump and skid across the trail or blow a turn and fly into the brush. I'd hate to have my bar butt hanging out for the whole rest of the ride.

Because people are slaves to fashion, peer pressure and perceived style and lack the self-confidence to make their own choices.

Ride what works for you and don't worry about what you are "supposed" to wear.

I tried baggies and, like others, they would catch on the saddle when moving around, to the point of distracting me and causing at least one crash. I wear lycra on both road and mtb rides now.

HELL my friggin lycra catches on the saddle, sometimes the bottom strap on the camelback catches under the nose of the saddle. If you use your body to guide the bike, then get use to a few more adjustments.
This aint road biking.
