It wasn't anything special, other than being a sunny summer day.
Yeah, like Jewel I assume he has plenty of money for dental work. Weird they don't use it.

nope. Bike ride after work, finished cutting my lawns, making chili for tomorrow, doing a load of wash, getting clothes ready for tomorrow, walking the dog, reading the paper, eating and posting quality content here. Not to mention packing my bag of riding gear for tomorrow.
Also, what year is this? Who reads a paper in the evening?

it's 2018, I still need to stay abreast of local developments lest someone tries to pull the wool over my eyes.

I guess I shouldn't fault someone for supporting local journalists, though. They're almost an extinct species.

Today's random story... I was riding a week ago and when I got home, I noticed one of my bar end plugs had popped out and the tape had unraveled a bit. I tightened it up, stuck a wine cork in the bar, cut it down a bit, and wrapped the whole thing in electrical tape. Not very elegant, but it worked.
Yesterday I was riding and saw a black object on the road. I had a flash that maybe it was my bar plug, but I didn't bother turning around. Today I passed the same spot but went a bit slower. Lo and behold, it actually was my bar plug, in perfect condition after apparently sitting in that exact spot for a week. Grabbed it, removed the electrical tape and cork, and we're back to normal. Felt like a little victory.

I know that a couple of folks have signed up for Relive - it's kinda nifty, though the novelty may wear through pretty quickly.

Today was one of those rides where, right from the start, you know it's going to be great - legs feeling light and strong, lungs deep and full, bike running perfectly.
....and then it all went off the rails.
First I noticed that I wasn't getting any power/cadence data, so I stopped and dicked with that, to no avail. There was a firmware update a couple days ago, so something went wonky there.
I was still feeling good and moving well, but then I realized that I'd forgotten my food at home. The only gas station around had lemons and limes on hand, but no bananas. No bananas? wtf.
Shortly after that, a bit of bounciness in the saddle told me that my rear tire was low. Couldn't find any sealant spray or signs of a puncture, so I just topped off and kept moving. ...until it got low again, about 5 miles down the road. I must have had more punctures than I'd thought, because the inside of the tire was dry (which I learned after cultivating and popping a few blisters during the removal of the tire).. Popped in my spare tube, but the threads on the valve stem were bungled and I couldn't get my pump threaded on all the way, so I got it up to ~30psi and limped a few miles to a bike shop.
The ride after that was mercifully uneventful, but all that stuff sapped my energy a bit, so it was a bit slow going.
Time for beer and beer and food.

I rode east, then west, then north, then south, then west again. In every direction I had headwind, even though the tall grasses along the roadside were still. Then it dawned on me that my massive guads were the reason behind the perceived headwind. It sure was nice riding north/south in the shade.
