Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Now, that sounds (reads?) like it should be delicious. But I tried prosciutto in Italy a few years ago (in several local restaurants) and it turned out to be a major bummer. Evidently my taste in cured meats is just not very refined.

Also, I've read about grilled watermelon. I almost tried that last weekend after the ribs and chicken were done. Maybe at some point this summer (with a little salt).

Dumb email question....I typically am getting 50 emails/day that go into "junk" folder. I still try to eyeball these because 1-2% are actually legit and/or important but the majority are total spam.

I was complaining to mrs datlas about this and she said to click on the "unsubscribe" option on the spam and they will take you off the list. Does that work? My guess is that if you respond even with "unsubscribe" they will know you are getting their spam and they will only send more.

Anyone know?

Unsubscribe on evil spam just means more evil spam.

Unsubscribe on more benevolent spam will stop spam from that address.

An acquired taste, I suppose? The best cured meat I've experienced was real jamón ibérico in Spain. 10/10 would go back just for that.
@datlas I think you're a vegetarian or something gross like that, but if not, hopefully you enjoyed some while in Spain a year or two ago.

I recall seeing and hearing about the Iberian ham in Spain when I was there, and my family even popped into one meat shop and had some samples.* I passed.* I have been veg for 33 years now so it's likely that way for the duration.

p.s. I did NOT put those asterisks in, wtf?!?

It usually works. Or you can just click on it and report it as spam to Google. I don't know how effective that is, but it's certainly a lot quicker. I generally use that feature, like I did today, for what I perceived to e a phishing scheme from a fake Paypal site.

Remember during the winter when it was warmer in Antarctica than in Knoxville?

Well, according to this, yesterday it was warmer in the Arctic Circle than it was in Knoxville.

Yet another hot day far up in the Arctic circle ? northern Finland already at 33 °C by 11:30 UTC (July 18)! | Severe Weather Europe

There is a movie titled 'Arctic Circle' which, I believe, takes place in that neck of the woods.

Here are a couple I got today:
PELOTON magazine and Silca giveaway. - benevolent spam. The all caps bit had me worried for a bit, but I checked it out and it was OK.
Canadian Pharmacy - evil spam. Don't click on it! Don't even hover over the sender or subject line. Try not to read the subject line even.

Perhaps the answer to this predicament is that I should just spend more time in Europe sampling a wide variety of cured meats.
