You can see a lot of kids "wearing" their helmets exactly like that once out of Mom & Dad's radius of influence. Either that or on the handlebars.

Really interesting clipless pedals, though. Platform snap-on, which apparently can also disengage from the crank arms. Could this be the next big thing? I you could find a way to activate them using your iPhone, just maybe.

Speaking of snowed in; here's view out my front door up here in the foothills. Taken yesterday afternoon, with 25" snow on the ground. Got another 5" last night and is currently blizzarding again. Our biggest snowstorm since '96-'97, which was a 100 year storm. That little triangle of green and red in the very center of the picture is my Honda Accord.

We don't have a dog. Those are raccoon prints. No doubt the bandit was searching for the cat door. (It's on the other side of house - buried under two feet of snow.)

we’ve been pretty much bunkered in in Northeast Seattle. I set up my trainer and have been riding while watching videos of the Tour de France. Even with the excitement of the Tour I can make it only 40 minutes before my fanny gives up/I get bored.

You would have heard correctly! I saw them skiing down the south slope (a portion of Queen Anne Ave. also called the Counterbalance). Lots of sledding, too. Basically, if it's snowed halfway decently or better, that hill, a good 12-15% or so of a grade, gets closed and people gather at the top under the stoplights and go sledding down it. I never go sledding, but the sounds of fun get me outside and I end up going for a walk. It's really lovely here when it snows. That being said--and though I'm glad it isn't Port Angeles level of epic snow (oh my, Caveman!)--I'm ready for it to be gone, and with it, the 20° temperatures that preceded and accompanied this snowfall. It'd be fine if it were flat, but it's not, anywhere, in this city. The weather forecast changes so much it's insane. Currently we're looking at highs of 40 with rain for much of the remaining week. I don't think I've ever been happier to bike in rainy 30-something degree weather (which is miserable riding weather, truly). I've got my CX tires on my tourer and we have been biking every day, reliably to work. That feels good.

We only had a foot on the ground in Lacey, but you carry a shovel to dig out getting in and out of your drive way. Once you get to traveled road it's not too bad. Though now its raining and I expect flooding in all low areas due to drains still clogged by snow.
The worst part has been the cabin fever, joked that wife was carrying an ax about the house muttering under her breath "I'm back" then cackling in laughter. Thus the shovel in the back of the car and daily drives no matter what just to get out. The local diners that were open were doing a bang up business.

Tuesday morning update from Port Angeles, WA.....and about a mile away from @Lascauxcaveman as a crow flies. I haven't ventured out this morning, but my Bride reports another 5" to 6" fell last night. Wet stuff this time. 'Still coming down too. It will be another long day at the dumb end of a snow shovel to clear out my driveway. Sign me.....

Here’s what it looked like on the trails yesterday. I’ve had 5 snow days so far (teacher) and have been riding about as much as usual...I just don’t go very far or very fast! My vintage bikes are hibernating but I bought a wallyworld Rawland and it is perfect for this type of riding.
