Working on a Nishiki International as well. This one had been a bit problematic due to a internal rust in the top tube. This bike is pretty neat. I never owned a Nishiki before,but the craftmanship in these bikes is incredible. I'll post some updates later this week with more details. Hope you enjoy yours! I'm planning on doing a head - head with my 82 1000.

I got this ‘83 (pretty sure) Voyageur a little over a month ago, been using it for a commuter and it does a fine job. I doubt it’s ever seen a tour, and as long as it’s in my possession it’s doubtful to ever see one. I’ve grown fond of it quickly. This replaces (and is in some ways superior to) a Trek Multitrack drop bar conversion I had been using as my commuter.

1983 Davidson custom. Very much like a Discovery model, was used for extensive touring by the original owner. Paint and chrome updates by Robert Freeman, done for the OO prior to his passing.
Components are new Sugino touring triple, older Deore FD and RD, Shimano 6207 DT friction shifters, Tektro 539 brakes and R200 levers, Ritchey saddle, Nitto bars and stem, Ultegra 6700 hubs (with a transplanted freehub so it can run UG cogs) laced to Mavic Open Elite rims, 8 speed 13-32 cassette and Panaracer GK 32's. It's a sweet ride that's surprisingly fast.

This is the Mark II version of the bike in thread 2045 A 1987 Nishiki Cresta GT, I had a crash in March that bent the forks which @gugie was kind enough to help straighten back out, it got the bike back on the road but unfortunately it didn't feel quite the same. I found a fork from a 1986 Schwinn Passage off ebay. And it took a few twists and turns but I got the fork rattle canned and installed and now the bike feels like it's back to its classic stable touring feel. I have added a Carradice barley bag, need to redo the bar tape and I have some metal fenders on the way.

I lucked into this 1987 Trek 520 Cirrus at the co-op for $75 just in time for the Clunker Challenge and now that I completed the 100 k the bike will get some down time before its gets the Spa treatment and some upgrades.



87 Trek 520 which beside the replacement rear wheel and FW is pretty stock.


Wider bars, taller stem, plusher pedals and new bar tape. Not pictured Panaracer Paselas still need to find a Saddle. not a fan of the Vetta.

That's an Aurora Cycle sticker on the seat tube. I may have worked on that one BITD. Nice score!

Note that the wheels are 27". That persisted on the 520 a bit longer than any other Trek road bike because it was thought that a person actually on tour might have to source a replacement tire at K-Mart.

2 hr round trip for this Voyageur off original owner. Schwinn bag is in great shape. Replacement arx derailer that shifts great. Seat is loud but comfortable. I’m 6’1 so it’s a tight fit but doable.

How have I never heard of this connection?

@tmar - this is right up your alley as its a Japanese import bike from the 80s and connected to a Canada company. Any chance you have insight on the partnership?

I believe that Nishiki has virtually always been a sub-brand of Norco's, positioned a little higher end. 70's bikes were often virtually identical.

Found my grail bike a few weeks ago. A 1984 Fuji Touring Series IV. Then I found another identical 1984 one a couple weeks later! Isn't that the way it goes? Nothing for a year or so of watching and then 2 in a month. This one pictured is a 61CM/24IN, the other is a 63CM/25IN. Now I need to pick the right one for me. Or just keep both! Good problem to have!

This is a 1988 ST-1000 I recently picked up. I'm going to ride it this summer and if it passes the test, it'll get a full overhaul come winter.

Fixed up my '89 1000 LT. Some minor upgrades made it more suitable for my touring needs. Was worried about taking her out, but after consulting a thread I made about fear of enjoying my bikes, decided it would be best suited to enjoy instead of sitting in my garage or house as an ornament.

So I landed this gem today. 1984 Trek 520. The handlebar setup does not do the frame any favors. Small head tubes and extra long stems/tall-wide bars turn the front end into noodle city. This cockpit need to go back to a stock setup with drops. Awesome bike though.
