Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

BB90 to a BB92

Hey guys just a quick question. I have a 2008 Trek Madone 5.2 Pro and I need to replace the bottom bracket. Trek uses BB90's. Im looking to buy one from Chain Reaction Cycles, but I can only find BB92 road press. Does anyone know if that will fit. I called my local shop but they never heard of a BB92. Thanks guys

Look here - Complete guide to bottom brackets - BikeRadar USA

Instead of having cartridge bearings that were pressed into aluminium cups that were then threaded into the frame, Trek eliminated the middle man and pressed the bare bearings directly into the frame.

A BB90 is a Trek road bottom bracket. It simply uses bearings pressed in, one on each side.

BB92 is a mountain bike shell width. Honestly, the 2 mm is simply a slight spacer difference.

What you need to do is identify which crank you have...24mm both bear sides Shimano...24/22 for Sram. This determines which bearing set you need to replace with your bottom bracket.

Enduro bearings are good quality...angular contact...and not expensive.

Why would the need for $20 in bearings make you wait on a groupset?

Any good Trek dealer will have the BB90 bearings in stock.
