Trek 420 Frame Raised From the Dead
Last April I posted pics here of my rusty bare-metal '90 Trek 420 and I wanted to show the finished frame & fork sporting decals from Velocals.
This frame is my "experimental game" as I wanted to see how two colors of rattle-can paint blend together (answer: not as good as the paint *** kind!) Next time if I use rattle-cans for the color I might just stick with one color or different shades of the same color which I have done on a tandem I had with better results. The clear is Spray-Max 2K Rapid Cut-In.
I call it "Raspberry Cheesecake"!

Sorry to bring up a three-month-old post but I wanted to show off my finally-completed Trek. I have been on disability due to a ruptured Achilles' tendon and this project gave me something to do while I was recovering so I didn't go completely insane!
Some features include a Velo Orange Montmartre h/bar and elkhide chainstay protector. I built the wheels using formerly pink (I got them cheap) Velocity Deep V rims and Phil hubs with a stainless steel shell. I contacted Phil Wood via email and they said that they were from the early '70's. Cork grips and a Brooks B17 honey saddle.
One mistake I think I made was only using one coat of clear since the finish chips easily. Next time if I do something like this again I'll go with two coats but at $26 per can for the 2K (it takes two to do a frame and fork) it's not cheap.

You did a really great job with this. You chose two colors that work together perfectly.
It's nice to know the CrMo fork label is still available, I need a set on my 86 400 Elance.

LIke the build. I think I might have chosen different bars but hey, everyone has different concepts on what makes a nice bar.
