Your bikes on other people's blogs
Yeah, it's kind of a "If you submit it, they will put it up" kind of thing, but my Dumpster Queen is currently the featured bike on Old Ten Speed Gallery right now.
My old Raleigh DL-1 made an appearance on Old Three-Speed Gallery back in December.
Do any of the rest of you bother to submit your bikes for these kinds of sites? If so, post up links showing your bikes featured on other sites.

I've traded emails with the site owner of OTSG and I've sent a couple of pics, too. Nice guy and he has a fun website.
Great news about Rock Racing, too.

I haven't seen mine on any other blogs...yet. But a couple of mine have popped up on BF on more than one occasion, when someone needed an example.
Most recently was my Giant Excursion which showed up in this thread. My wife and her bike showed up on another C&V thread in a discussion about upright 3 speeds.

I might be denser than your average old C&V rider. But I'm not sure whether the Rock Racing story is fact or fiction. Either way, it's a fun story. And if true, I do have a lime-green Schwinn available for sale, although it is not a Sportabout:
It's a 1974 ladies Suburban. If anything, it's even heavier than the Sportabout.

Hey, your DL-1 is gorgeous. I've got a fairly recently acquired DL-1 of similar vintage. Any tips on bringing it back to life? Mine has rust on some of the painted bits, especially the fenders. I noticed you'd managed to clean that up pretty well on yours. Did you do anything special? Use any special cleaners?
Any tips much appreciated.

I once saw one of my bikes in the SS/FG forum as an example of what the poster wanted to do for his bike build.
My webpage has hundreds of bike pics; entirely possible some are floating around the internet. How would one find out?

Well one of my bike submissions to the old ten speed gallery made it on the download-able calendar. I love sending the odd 10 speed their way. Something about a site that shines a spotlight on the down trodden and mundane old bikes make me a little bit happier.

Last summer I emailed a guy using a pic of my bike in his advertisement. He seemed upset that I asked him to remove it. He said he would, but didn't understand why I thought it was a big deal.

I don't submit my photos to gawk lists - I share them here on the forum, a setting where C&V photos, besides being respected, can elicit interesting and intellectual discussion that transcends endless "Awesome bike!" comments.
As for photos yanked off without permission and re-posted somewhere else - those folks get asked to remove them if I find the use improper.

Four California-based friends have posted their Capos here:

Bowman has the most elaborate paint and decal reproduction, Nielsen has all-original paint and components, and Slater has his dad's bike, complete with the Ratshausmann badge on the seat tube.

This may be considered declasse* here, but my F/G conversion is on the Fixed Gear gallery (see sig). Representin' 50+ non-kitten killers, yo!
However, if I don't find a nice vintage rider for the upcoming season, I might build it back up as a geared bike & put the fixie bits on an old, half-stripped Miyata 90 frame I have around.

I hear that this wasn't the best of ideas, but to clean the chrome I used WD-40 and 0000 steel wool. I hear brass wool is better for the finish.

If I myself ever use a photo that can be traced back to its original owner, I ask whether i can use it. I kind of consider LOLcats and stuff to be public domain.
