Barra randonneur

You don't see many of these beautiful bikes around and so i thought i would share it.

Beautiful lugless frame in aluminium.

This bike is not mine, my friend at the local bike shop picked it up the other week.
I asked him for some photos so that i can post the bike online.

Anyway enough talking and heres the photos.

And here a saddle he bought for it.
An ideale dural 57 model!

Do you know the age of the bike? Also, how much does it weigh as equipped?

I'm not sure about the weight but the age I suspect is late 1940s in to the 50s.

Y'know, I almost hate to click on the link when I see Daveyates has posted something new. Almost.

But man, you sure do come up with some rare and great stuff. I guess I'll just have to find a way to cope with the jealousy!

Wow. Straight outta The Golden Age of Handbuilt Bicycles. I'm going to have to pull my copy off the shelf and see if your buddy's bike is the same one they have in there.

What's going on with the non-drive side of the rear hub? Is that some kind of band-clamp brake?

Wouldn't mind seeing some more close-up pics on this thing.

That is part of the rear drum brake and it appears to have a lever on the top tube to operate it.
Looks to be a drag brake for long descents.
