These pics along the PCH prompt me to ask if there are "Ice Plants" there? I don't know the correct botanical name. When I was drafted in '66, I would have gone to Fort Leonard Wood or Fort Polk for basic, but at the time those were full up. Instead I was shipped to Fort Ord and since it was winter, it was one of the few good things to happen to me in the army. Had a DI that would scream at us to not step on his ice plants.

After all the wildfires, the flowers have emerged. These are the state flower … the California Golden Poppy.

I envy you people out in California about now. Here's what my world looked like this weekend. Of course come wildfire season out there I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune. I also can ride to this set of trails from my house through a couple quiet neighborhoods, not exactly easy for most people in California metro areas.

Last Sunday it was 80 degrees and windy(offshore) here in Southern California. I went for a nice ride on the Raleigh , but did not brave the head wind home , so waited in Ventura for my wife! Joe joesvintageroadbikes.wordpress

Yea, both types of natural scenery were amazing that day. That's near Jalama State Beach in California along the Central Coast. There is no development or roads in either direction for miles and miles. But there is a hamburger stand.

I do miss the Monterey Bay area (coastal central CA), from a cycling point of view.
Nice pics.

Wow. Amazing views. I sure hope that folks riding in those areas have their heads up looking around when riding through there.

This was the Rodeo Rally gravel group ride put on periodically by the people at Rodeo Adventure Lab.
https://www.rodeo-labs.com/georgia-r...-das-boot-cup/
About 30 of us left Helen, Georgia for a spin through Smithgall Woods State Park which included the stream crossing pictured. We then climbed to the top of Unicoi Gap on rough forest service roads and descended the north side of Unicoi on pavement. Unicoi Gap is part of the yearly "Six Gap" century ride. We then headed south back to Helen by climbing up and over Tray Mountain. Tray was really rough - the surface was rocky and the climb took over an hour.
The route is at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29567237
This was probably the prettiest section, a shelf road near the top of Tray Mountain right after an intersection with the Appalachian Trail.

Your pictures are great, and so is your Wordpress blog, but I wish you'd include some descriptions of where they were taken, and other observations you may have. Frankly, until I saw them, I never thought of the deep south as a vacation destination, but the trails you photograph are fascinating.
