Best way to carry larger cell Phone.

Best way to carry larger cell Phone.
I've got a LG V10.
I was carrying it in my front left pocket, I may start using bibs so no pocket.
Will a phone remain in a Jersey pocket I'd likely put it in a watertight phone box or bag.
Or would something like a Frame bag/box/ Tube case be better?

I ride road and my iPhone 6 stays in a normal jersey pocket just fine. It is in a full Otter box, maybe with a ziplock bag if the forecast calls for heavy rain.
I've never had a problem but sometimes carry it in the inside jersey if I'm layered for the cold just to be safe.

Perhaps one of those plastic, elastic and velcro arm-band cell phone carriers many joggers wear.

I myself wear coaches' shorts with a belt and carry my phone in a belt-clip holster. Been commuting like this for years. Makes it easy to listen to podcasts and talk on the phone with a wired earpiece. I realize this is not what you wear, but the armband thingy may work for you.

I don't buy phones with a screen larger than 5 inches. IMHO - that's about the limit for carrying it securely in a jersey pocket. If you want to try a top tube bag, you'll need jumbo sized one and then you risk hitting it with your knees when you pedal (depending on your frame geometry). If you put it in a seat bag, you'll need a jumbo sized one of those, too.

Mount on handlebars works for me. Rock solid and never comes out. iPhone never came out of jersey pocket either before i got mount. Just didn't trust a pocket.

Note, not much if any room for a case. Armbands seem nice....but IMHO they tend to not stay up on the bicep very well IME on a roadbike, especially with a long sleeve base layer or SunSleeves on.

Put a rear rack on and a top box. Then you can carry an ipad as well as a packed lunch and some tools.

I got the 6se (iphones based on the old smaller 5 frame) for both the wife and myself. It was just such a great value. But I've been reconsidering the larger format phones.
I always carry my phone in a ZipLoc bag when cycling. Placed in the center rear jersey pocket. The bag protects the phone.... from my sweat.

I had an Otter Box for my i5, but it was too darned big. I now have a Speck Candyshell which I got on sale for $5. It usually goes in my rear pocket, but sometimes in my seat bag, and always in a Ziplok.

The other half of the time I put it in a Banjo Bro medium handle bar bag.
What do y'all need the phone for.....you like the rest of the people walking across the street with your head glued to that phone? Waiting for your one friend to send you a text message? You have the handlebar mount so you can watch your phone for any activity?.....and put you STRAVA on hold at every stoplight so you can get a higher average? Not good enough skills to repair a flat tire while on the road? Couple of quarters is good.

For riding on the road, phones won't bounce out of a normal jersey pocket unless the elastic on the pocket has sagged or you hit huge holes or stunt ride.
It is a non issue if the jersey is decent quality and you ride normally.

I primary use it for Strava or Run keeper. Also have a Smart watch so I can start/stop activity if needed. Although I've never been the type to pause activity. Once I go I go. So once the phone is secure it remains until the ride is over. Always good to have a phone if in between towns.
That looks rather interesting. A bit expensive for what it is though.
Some interesting ideas. I wonder if one could add a button to a jersey pocket. So it could be closed.
I do have it in a full modified otter box. So will give it a test this weekend. Seems as though for most phone stay in place.

I use a QuadLock case on handlebar mount. Comes with a sleeve you can put over it if you are expecting rain. They also make arm bands for running, and other various mounts. Very secure system.
I don't like going places without a phone, and Strava will pause itself.

Stick it in a zip-lock bag and put it in your jersey pocket. That's what I did until I fell off a dock and got a waterproof case for my new phone. Now it just goes in the pocket.

<Shudder> A hear and a half ago, my group had a pretty spectacular wreck caused by a phone bouncing out of a handlebar mount. Lots of lost skin and one rider had a concussion but luckily no broken bones. I guess tail lights and water bottles get bounced off our bikes regularly, too; but cell phones cost more!

I've never lost an item from a jersey pocket, and my phone's back there for pretty much every ride.
If you can sew, it's definitely possible to add a button or even a zipper. Some jerseys even come with zippered pockets. If you're adding some kind of closure to jerseys you already have, velcro might be easiest.
